How long should a small business retain its accounting records?

< 1 min read

Accounting records must be kept for six years from the end of the last company financial year they relate to, or longer if they show a transaction covering more than one accounting period, assets expected to last more than six years, if the Company Tax Return was submitted late, or if HMRC has initiated a compliance check.
