CT600 Tax Return Filing in Tilbury – Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

Professional CT600 Tax Return Filing in Tilbury helps limited companies bring their Corporation Tax position together and submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC with accuracy and confidence. The CT600 is the form HMRC uses to report a company’s income, gains, allowances and reliefs for Corporation Tax purposes, and it is a separate filing obligation from the statutory accounts a company submits to Companies House. Our role is to review the figures from your accounting records, work through the tax adjustments that may be needed to arrive at taxable profit, prepare the return and manage the submission to HMRC on your behalf. If you are filing for the first time, catching up on an outstanding return, or simply want the administrative burden lifted, we can take the detail off your desk and keep the process clear from start to finish. Filing a CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations, so we will also help you understand what is being reported and when payment matters.

I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

What Is a CT600 and How Does It Apply to Micro-Entity Companies?

A CT600 is the Company Tax Return that a UK limited company uses to report its Corporation Tax position to HMRC. There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form — the same CT600 is used across companies, but a company that qualifies as a micro-entity may have particular accounting and tax considerations that shape what goes into it. A micro-entity company still has Corporation Tax obligations where HMRC requires it to file a Company Tax Return, and the accounting figures from its records and accounts are typically the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation. It is important to separate this from statutory accounts prepared under a framework such as FRS 105 and filed with Companies House: accounts preparation and Corporation Tax filing are related but distinct processes, and the accounting framework used does not by itself determine the Corporation Tax liability. Taxable profit can also differ from accounting profit, because the Corporation Tax computation may require adjustments — for example, disallowable expenses or timing differences — before taxable profit is established. Depending on the company’s circumstances, it may not owe Corporation Tax at all, and filing the CT600 is not the same as paying Corporation Tax, as the reporting and payment obligations are separate.

Make Your CT600 Tax Return Filing Straightforward

Preparing a Company Tax Return can quickly become complicated once you move beyond the accounting profit and start thinking about tax adjustments, allowable deductions and the records HMRC expects you to keep. Micro Entity Accounts can take that work off your hands, from reviewing your bookkeeping and preparing the CT600 through to building the Corporation Tax computation, checking the adjustments between accounting and taxable profit, and handling the HMRC filing itself. If you would rather spend your time running the business in Tilbury than decoding tax legislation, get in touch and we will talk you through what is needed and how the process works.

A CT600 is the Company Tax Return form used to report a UK limited company's Corporation Tax position to HMRC. It sets out the company's income, chargeable gains, allowances, reliefs and deductions for the accounting period, and it forms part of the company's Corporation Tax filing responsibilities. The CT600 is submitted to HMRC, not to Companies House, and it is prepared using the figures from the company's accounting records alongside any adjustments required to arrive at taxable profit.

Yes, they are two separate filings with two separate bodies. Statutory accounts are prepared under an accounting framework and filed with Companies House, while a CT600 is a tax return submitted to HMRC. The accounts and the CT600 are connected because the accounting figures usually provide the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, but completing one does not satisfy the other. A company may need to prepare and file both, and the amounts reported can differ once tax adjustments are applied.

It depends on the company's circumstances. A company that is within the Corporation Tax system and has been asked by HMRC to deliver a Company Tax Return will generally need to file a CT600, and this can apply to micro-entity companies as well as larger ones. Being a micro-entity affects how the statutory accounts may be prepared, but it does not by itself exempt a company from Corporation Tax filing obligations. If you are unsure whether a return is required for your company, it is worth checking your position with HMRC or with an adviser.

No. The CT600 is the return that reports the figures to HMRC, while the Corporation Tax computation is the working that shows how you moved from accounting profit to taxable profit. The computation applies tax adjustments, such as adding back disallowable expenses or accounting for capital allowances, and its results feed into the figures entered on the CT600. Preparing a solid computation first makes the return itself far easier to complete accurately.

Taxable profit is not always the same as the profit shown in the accounts. The starting point is usually the accounting profit for the period, which is then adjusted to reflect tax rules — for example, expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes is added back, and reliefs or allowances such as capital allowances may be deducted. Timing differences, such as depreciation versus capital allowances, can also create a gap between the two figures. The CT600 reports the taxable profit that results from those adjustments, not simply the accounting profit.

No, they are separate obligations. Filing the CT600 is about reporting the company's Corporation Tax position to HMRC, while paying Corporation Tax is a separate financial obligation where a liability arises. A company can file its return on time and still have a payment to make, and the payment deadlines do not always fall on the same date as the filing deadline. It is worth tracking both so that neither is overlooked.

Yes. A company can appoint an agent to prepare the CT600 and submit it to HMRC on its behalf, and that arrangement typically involves authorising the agent to act for the company for Corporation Tax purposes. In practice, this means you provide the accounting records and relevant information, and the agent handles the tax adjustments, the computation, the return itself and the submission. The company remains responsible for the accuracy of what is filed and for any tax that is due.

The main requirement is a complete set of accounting records for the accounting period, including the profit and loss account, balance sheet and supporting detail such as sales, expenses, payroll information, asset purchases and any other income. It also helps to have details of anything unusual in the period, such as asset disposals, loans to or from directors, or expenditure that may not be allowable for tax. The more organised your records, the smoother the Corporation Tax computation and CT600 preparation will be.
