CT600 Tax Return Filing in Lampeter: Prepare and Submit Your Company Tax Return to HMRC

Professional CT600 Tax Return Filing in Lampeter helps your company pull together its accounting figures, review the tax adjustments that may apply, and submit an accurate Company Tax Return to HMRC. The CT600 reports your company’s Corporation Tax position for the accounting period, but it is not the same thing as the statutory accounts you file with Companies House — those are a separate obligation with a separate purpose and a different audience. Our role is to make sure the figures behind your CT600 are properly prepared, that the Corporation Tax computation is clear and well supported, and that the return is filed with the right information. Whether you run a small or micro company, a newly incorporated business, or an established trading company in Lampeter, you get straightforward support, clear and transparent pricing, and a plain-English explanation of what has been filed and why.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Is a CT600, and How Does It Apply to Micro-Entity Companies?

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. A CT600 is simply the Company Tax Return that HMRC uses for companies within the charge to Corporation Tax, and a company that happens to qualify as a micro-entity still uses the same CT600 if HMRC requires it to file a return. Micro-entity status relates to the size of the company and to the accounting framework used when preparing its accounts — it does not determine the company’s tax liability. The statutory accounts filed with Companies House are a separate obligation from the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC, even though both often start from the same bookkeeping records. Those accounting figures may then be used as the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, but taxable profit can differ from accounting profit because the computation may require adjustments, such as adding back expenditure that is not deductible for tax or claiming capital allowances in place of depreciation. Being a micro-entity does not automatically mean the company owes Corporation Tax — the taxable position and the company’s wider circumstances decide that — and filing the CT600 is also a separate matter from paying any Corporation Tax that is due.

A CT600 is the form HMRC uses for a Company Tax Return. It sets out the company's income, profits, gains and allowances for an accounting period and reports the resulting Corporation Tax position. Most companies that are within the charge to Corporation Tax are expected to file one, including periods where no tax ends up being payable. The CT600 is submitted to HMRC electronically and sits alongside — but is separate from — the company's statutory accounts and its Corporation Tax computation.

Yes, they are different documents with different purposes. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company's members and filed with Companies House under company law. The CT600 is a tax return submitted to HMRC. They often draw on the same underlying records, but they serve different readers and can be prepared on different bases. Filing the accounts does not discharge the obligation to file a Company Tax Return, and filing a CT600 does not remove the need to file accounts.

Micro-entity status is about the size of the company and the accounting framework used for its accounts — it does not create a separate tax return or automatically exempt a company from Corporation Tax filing. If HMRC requires a Company Tax Return, a micro-entity company files the same CT600 as any other company. Whether Corporation Tax is actually payable depends on the company's taxable profits, reliefs and other circumstances, so a micro-entity may have a filing obligation even where no tax is due.

Yes. The CT600 is the return form itself; the Corporation Tax computation is the working that supports it. The computation typically starts with the accounting profit shown in the accounts and then applies the adjustments needed to arrive at taxable profit, such as adding back expenditure that is not deductible for tax, deducting capital allowances instead of depreciation, or dealing with income and gains treated differently for tax. The resulting figures feed into the CT600, so the two work best when prepared together.

You begin with the profit reported in the accounts for the accounting period, then adjust it for items that tax law treats differently. Common adjustments include adding back disallowable expenditure, replacing depreciation with capital allowances, and separating out income or gains that fall outside trading profits. The outcome is the taxable profit on which Corporation Tax is calculated. Because the adjustments depend on the company's own transactions and records, the computation needs to be prepared on a case-by-case basis rather than by applying a standard formula.

No — filing and payment are separate obligations. Submitting the CT600 tells HMRC what the company's position is for the period, while paying Corporation Tax is a distinct step with its own due date. A company can file a return showing no tax payable, or it can owe tax that needs to be paid separately. Keeping an eye on both the filing and any liability helps avoid last-minute surprises.

Yes. A company can appoint an accountant or agent to prepare and submit its Company Tax Return on its behalf, and many businesses do exactly that. The company itself remains responsible for the accuracy of the information filed and for paying any tax that is due. Working with an agent usually means the CT600, the Corporation Tax computation and the supporting records are reviewed together before anything is submitted to HMRC.

In practice you need the statutory accounts or a trial balance for the accounting period, details of income and expenditure, information on capital purchases and disposals, any losses brought forward, and particulars of other income, gains or reliefs being claimed. The company's registration details and the exact accounting period dates are also required. The more complete and organised the records, the smoother the CT600 Tax Return Filing process tends to be.
