CT600 Tax Return Filing in Hook — Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

CT600 Tax Return Filing is how a UK company reports its Corporation Tax position to HM Revenue & Customs. If your company is based in Hook or anywhere nearby, professional support with CT600 Tax Return Filing means your accounting records are reviewed, your taxable profit is worked out properly, and your Company Tax Return is prepared and submitted to HMRC accurately and on time. It is important to be clear that a CT600 is not the same thing as your statutory accounts. Statutory accounts are filed separately with Companies House, while the CT600 is the Corporation Tax Return that goes to HMRC. The two are connected — the figures in your accounts usually form the starting point for the tax calculation — but they are distinct filing obligations with different purposes and different recipients. Good CT600 Tax Return Filing takes the administrative weight off your shoulders: we help you gather the right information, identify the tax adjustments that may be needed, keep your Corporation Tax records organised, and deal with the submission itself. The result is a clearer, more accurate picture of your company’s tax position and far less time spent wrestling with forms.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Is a Micro-Entity CT600? Corporation Tax Filing for Small Companies

You may have seen the phrase “micro-entity CT600” used informally, but it is worth being precise: there is no separate official micro-entity version of the CT600 form. The CT600 is the standard Company Tax Return used by UK companies to report their Corporation Tax position to HMRC, and a company that operates as a micro-entity under a small-company accounting framework still uses that same return where it is required to file one. Being a micro-entity affects how your statutory accounts are prepared and filed with Companies House — it does not by itself determine whether your company owes Corporation Tax, and it does not automatically decide your Corporation Tax liability. What matters for CT600 Tax Return Filing is your company’s own circumstances and its taxable position. If your company has taxable profits, or if HMRC has asked you to submit a return, you will generally need to complete a Company Tax Return. The accounting figures from your micro-entity accounts are usually the starting point for the tax calculation, but the profit shown in those accounts is not always the same as the profit that is taxed. Corporation Tax calculations commonly require adjustments — for example, for expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes, for income treated differently under tax rules, or for reliefs and allowances your company can claim. The taxable profit that emerges from that process is what the CT600 reports. It is also worth separating two things that often get confused: filing your CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are different obligations with different processes and timelines. Preparing and submitting the return does not itself settle the tax, and paying an amount does not remove the need to file. Professional CT600 Tax Return Filing in Hook helps you handle the return itself, the tax adjustments behind it, and the supporting records, so the figures you submit are properly considered rather than rushed.

A CT600 is the standard form used to submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC. It sets out your company's Corporation Tax position for an accounting period — including the income, expenses, profits and tax calculations that support the figures reported. The CT600 is filed electronically with HMRC and is separate from anything you send to Companies House.

A Company Tax Return is the overall submission made to HMRC for a company's accounting period. The CT600 form sits at the centre of it, supported by a Corporation Tax computation and, in most cases, a copy of the statutory accounts and other relevant schedules. Put simply, the Company Tax Return is the package; the CT600 is the main form within that package.

A company generally needs to file a Company Tax Return where it has a Corporation Tax liability for the period, where HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return, or where certain other circumstances apply — for example, where losses are being carried forward or specific reliefs are claimed. It is not simply about whether tax is payable, so it is worth checking your own position rather than assuming a dormant or loss-making period means no filing is required.

Yes, they are two separate filings with two different audiences. Statutory accounts are prepared and filed at Companies House under company law. The CT600 is submitted to HMRC and reports the company's Corporation Tax position. The accounts often provide the starting figures for the tax computation, but filing accounts does not satisfy your Corporation Tax filing obligation, and filing a CT600 does not satisfy your Companies House obligation.

They are related but not the same. The Corporation Tax computation is the working document that starts with your accounting profit, applies the relevant tax adjustments, and arrives at your taxable profit and the resulting Corporation Tax. The CT600 is the form on which those results are reported to HMRC. In practice, the computation supports and explains the numbers entered on the return.

It depends on the company's circumstances rather than its size alone. Operating as a micro-entity affects how your statutory accounts are prepared, but it does not exempt a company from Corporation Tax obligations or automatically determine whether Corporation Tax is payable. If your company has taxable profits, or if HMRC has required a return, you will generally need to submit one. The taxable position, not the accounting framework, is what matters.

The starting point is usually the profit shown in your accounts. From there, the Corporation Tax computation adds back expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes, deducts or adjusts items that are treated differently under tax rules, and takes account of reliefs and allowances the company can claim. The result is taxable profit, which may be higher or lower than accounting profit. This is why a company can show a modest accounting profit yet still have a different taxable position.

No — filing and paying are separate obligations. Submitting your Company Tax Return tells HMRC what your company's position is for the period. Paying any Corporation Tax that is due is a separate step with its own timing. Completing and filing the CT600 does not settle the liability, and making a payment does not remove the requirement to file a return.
