I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Which UK Companies Need to File a Confirmation Statement?

Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement, and that includes companies that are dormant, not trading, or simply sitting idle. Being inactive does not normally remove the requirement. The confirmation statement exists to check that the statutory record Companies House holds about your company is correct — it is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return.

  • Active limited companies that are trading and filing accounts each year
  • Dormant companies that are registered at Companies House but have no significant transactions
  • Non-trading companies that are between projects, being wound down, or simply not currently active
  • Companies whose details have changed during the year and need the public record brought up to date
  • Newly formed companies approaching the end of their first review period
  • Companies with a single director and shareholder, including owner-managed businesses in and around Whitchurch
  • Companies limited by guarantee and other incorporated entities with filing obligations at Companies House

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Is It For?

A confirmation statement is a filing made at Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is submitted as a CS01 and is a separate filing from your statutory annual accounts and from your Corporation Tax Return.

  • Registered office address — the official address Companies House uses to contact your company
  • Directors and secretaries, including appointments, resignations, and changes to service addresses
  • Shareholders and the company's statement of capital, such as share classes, holdings, and amounts paid
  • People with significant control (PSCs) and the nature of their control over the company
  • Standard industrial classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
  • Registered email address and other contact details held on the public register
  • Trading status on the register, for example whether the company is listed as active or dormant

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made at Companies House, usually submitted as form CS01, that confirms the information held about your company on the public register is accurate and up to date. It is not a financial document. You are not reporting profit, turnover, or tax — you are confirming that the statutory record is correct as at the confirmation date.

In most cases, yes. If your company is registered at Companies House, it will normally have a confirmation statement requirement, whether it is trading, dormant, or not currently active. There are limited circumstances where a company may not be required to file, and that depends on its specific position, so it is always worth checking your company record or asking an adviser rather than assuming you are exempt.

UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if nothing has changed since the last one. That 12-month cycle is your review period and it is separate from your accounting period, so do not confuse it with your annual accounts deadline. You can also file more than one confirmation statement within a review period if your information changes and you want the register updated sooner.

You should check your registered office address, directors and company secretary details, shareholders and statement of capital, people with significant control, SIC codes, and your registered email address. Anything that is out of date should be corrected. Some changes, such as appointing or removing a director, changing your registered office, allotting shares, or updating PSC information, often need to be reported to Companies House separately rather than waiting for your next confirmation statement.

Generally yes. Being dormant or not trading does not normally take away the confirmation statement requirement, because the statement is about the accuracy of your company record rather than your trading activity. A dormant company will typically still confirm its directors, shareholders, registered office, and PSC details. Dormancy affects other areas, such as whether accounts are prepared on a dormant basis, but it does not automatically switch off the confirmation statement obligation.

They are two completely separate filings. A confirmation statement confirms that your company information at Companies House is correct, while annual accounts report your company's financial position and performance for an accounting period and are filed with both Companies House and HMRC in the usual way. Filing one does not satisfy the other, and the deadlines are calculated differently.

A confirmation statement is a Companies House filing about your company's registered details. A Corporation Tax Return, often referred to as a CT600, is an HMRC filing that reports your company's taxable profits and calculates the Corporation Tax due. They are submitted to different authorities for different purposes, and filing a confirmation statement does not meet your Corporation Tax Return obligation.

If a confirmation statement is not filed, the company is not up to date with its Companies House filing obligations, and Companies House can take action against the company and its officers. What that means in practice depends on the circumstances and how long the filing is outstanding, so it is far better to deal with an overdue statement as soon as you can. If you are unsure of your position, get advice rather than leaving it unresolved.

We review your existing Companies House record, confirm what has changed during the review period, prepare your confirmation statement, and submit it on your behalf with clear, transparent pricing agreed in advance. If any changes need to be reported separately first, we will flag that so your record is corrected in the right order. To get started, simply get in touch with your company details and we will explain exactly what is needed and what the next steps are.
