We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Confirm?
A confirmation statement, often referred to as the CS01, is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is not a financial document and does not report profit, tax or accounting figures — it is a check that the public register reflects the real position of the company.
- Registered office address, company name and company number
- Directors, company secretary (if appointed) and their registered service addresses
- Shareholders, share capital and details of share transfers or allotments
- People with significant control (PSCs) and the nature of their control
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes and the company's main business activity
- The statement of lawful purpose and confirmation that the company is entitled to file

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
Confirmation Statement Filing is the process of submitting a confirmation statement (form CS01) to Companies House. It confirms that the information Companies House already holds about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. That includes things such as the registered office address, the directors, the shareholders, the people with significant control and the company's principal business activity. It is not a financial filing — it does not contain turnover, profit figures or tax calculations, and it is not a substitute for statutory accounts.
The requirement applies to most companies on the Companies House register, including those based in Strathpeffer and the surrounding Highland area. Whether your company is actively trading, has paused trading, or is dormant, a confirmation statement is generally required at least once every 12 months. Company size and turnover do not usually change this. If you are unsure whether your particular company falls within the requirement, it is worth checking your company's filing history at Companies House or asking an accountant to confirm your position.
UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, within a review period set by Companies House. If nothing has changed, a single filing for the period is usually enough. If your company information changes during that period, you can file more than one confirmation statement within the same review period. Some changes — such as a change of registered office address, a director appointment or a share allotment — may need to be reported separately rather than simply being confirmed on the next statement, so it is worth dealing with those as they happen.
Before filing, it is sensible to review everything that appears on the public register and compare it with your own records. This normally means checking the registered office address, the company name, the directors and company secretary details, the shareholder list and share capital, any share transfers or allotments, the people with significant control and their natures of control, and the SIC codes describing what the company does. If something is out of date, the confirmation statement is your prompt to correct it — often through a separate notification to Companies House alongside the statement.
In most cases, yes. Being dormant or not currently trading does not normally remove the obligation to file a confirmation statement, because the statement is about the company's details on the public register rather than about its financial activity. A dormant company may be exempt from filing annual accounts in certain circumstances, but that is a separate matter and does not automatically remove the confirmation statement requirement. Because the position can depend on your company's specific circumstances, it is worth confirming before assuming no filing is needed.
They are three separate filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement confirms that the company information held by Companies House is correct — it is a snapshot of who the company is and how it is structured. Annual (statutory) accounts are the financial statements showing the company's assets, liabilities, income and expenditure for an accounting period, and they are filed at Companies House. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is filed with HMRC to report the company's taxable profits and calculate the tax due. Filing one of these does not satisfy the others, and each has its own deadline.
If a confirmation statement is not filed when it is due, Companies House may treat the company as having stopped trading and can begin the process of removing it from the register. Failure to file is also a breach of the filing requirement, and in serious cases Companies House can take further action against the company and its officers. The practical point is that a missed confirmation statement is easy to overlook but not something to leave unresolved — the sooner it is brought up to date, the less disruptive it becomes.
With a professional service, you provide the details of any changes since your last statement, and your information is reviewed against what Companies House currently holds. Where something needs updating, the relevant change is identified and dealt with, and the confirmation statement is then submitted to Companies House on your behalf. You receive confirmation once it has been filed, so you have a clear record for your own files. To get started, simply share your company details and any changes you are aware of — the process is designed to be convenient, accurate and easy to follow from start to finish.
