I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Which UK Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
Most UK companies need to file a confirmation statement, including companies that are dormant, non-trading, or simply sitting quietly without any activity. It is also a separate filing from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return, and it exists to confirm that the information Companies House holds about your company is still accurate.
- Limited companies registered in the UK, including England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
- Dormant companies that are not trading and have no accounting transactions
- Non-trading companies that have no activity in the review period
- Companies that have already filed their annual accounts and tax returns for the period
- Newly incorporated companies that have reached their first confirmation statement date
- Companies based in South London, whether you run the business yourself or use an accountant

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?
A confirmation statement is a statutory filing to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date at the date you file. It is not a financial document, and it is not a replacement for your annual accounts, a Corporation Tax Return (CT600) or a VAT Return — it is simply a check that the public record is correct.
- Registered office address and company name
- Directors, company secretary details and their service addresses
- Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
- People with Significant Control (PSC) information
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes and the nature of the business
- Trading status, dormant status and any applicable exemption details
- A declaration that the information is correct to the best of your knowledge

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It is often referred to as the CS01, named after the form used to submit it. The confirmation statement doesn't contain profit figures or tax calculations — its purpose is to verify that the register reflects the current position of your company, such as the registered office, directors, shareholders and people with significant control. For many companies this is a case of checking the existing details and confirming them, but it is also the point at which anything that has changed should be updated.
Most UK limited companies need to file a confirmation statement, including companies registered in South London. The requirement doesn't depend on whether the business is busy — it applies to dormant companies, non-trading companies and companies that have had no changes at all during the period. If your company is on the register at Companies House, you should assume a confirmation statement is due unless you have confirmation otherwise for your specific circumstances. A small number of company types have different arrangements, so it is worth checking your own position rather than relying on a general rule.
UK companies generally need to file at least one confirmation statement every 12 months, even if the company is dormant or not trading. Companies House sets a review period, commonly known as the confirmation statement date or made-up date, and you normally have a set window after that date in which to file. Importantly, the confirmation statement cycle is not the same as your accounting period or your annual accounts deadline — they run independently and usually fall on different dates. If you are unsure when your next one is due, we can check your Companies House record and confirm the position for your company.
When you file a confirmation statement you are confirming that the register is correct, so it is worth reviewing your registered office address, directors and their service addresses, the company secretary if you have one, your shareholders and share capital, your statement of capital, People with Significant Control details, and your SIC codes. Trading status can also be relevant. If any of these have changed, the confirmation statement is your opportunity to bring the record up to date — though some changes, such as appointing or resigning a director or issuing new shares, need to be reported separately as they happen rather than waiting for the confirmation statement.
Yes, in most cases. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement. Dormancy affects what you report for Corporation Tax and how you prepare your accounts, but it does not switch off the confirmation statement obligation. A dormant company often has fewer details to check, which can make the filing quick, but it still needs to happen within the relevant window. This is one of the most common misunderstandings among directors, and it is something we help South London companies stay on top of.
These are three separate filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement goes to Companies House and confirms that the company information on the public register is accurate. Annual statutory accounts are also filed with Companies House, but they report your financial position and results for the accounting period. A Corporation Tax Return, usually filed as form CT600, goes to HMRC and calculates the corporation tax your company owes. A VAT Return is a further, separate filing for VAT-registered businesses. Filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy your accounts or tax obligations, and filing accounts does not replace your confirmation statement.
If a confirmation statement is not filed, Companies House can take enforcement action, and persistent failure can ultimately lead to the company being struck off the register. Failure to file is also a matter that can be treated as an offence by the company and its officers. The practical risks are equally worth thinking about: an out-of-date or incomplete public record can raise questions during a bank application, a finance arrangement or a due diligence check. The best approach is to keep the filing on track rather than dealing with it after the event, and we can help you stay ahead of the date.
We begin by checking your company's current record at Companies House against the details you provide, so we know exactly what needs confirming and what needs updating. We then prepare your confirmation statement, flag anything that appears out of date, and handle the submission through our Confirmation Statement Filing service — keeping you informed at each stage. If you are a South London business with a straightforward company structure, the process is usually quick; if you have more complex shareholdings or several changes to report, we will explain the steps involved. To get started, simply send us your company name and number and we will tell you what is needed next.
