I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Confirmation Statement Requirements

Every UK limited company and LLP must confirm the information on the public register each year, even where nothing has changed and the company is not trading.

Filing Deadline

If your company pays even one director a salary, you must operate PAYE and file RTI submissions with HMRC.

Company Information

Once any employee earns above the Lower Earnings Limit, RTI payroll filing becomes a legal obligation each pay period.

People & Shares

Every company must file a confirmation statement at least once in each 12-month review period, within 14 days of the review period ending.

Which UK Companies Need to File a Confirmation Statement?

Most UK limited companies and limited liability partnerships must send a confirmation statement to Companies House, usually at least once every 12 months. This applies to active companies, dormant companies and companies that are not currently trading.

  • Private limited companies, including single-director and family-run businesses
  • Dormant companies — being dormant does not normally remove the need to file
  • Non-trading companies and those temporarily paused between projects
  • Limited liability partnerships and other entities with a Companies House filing obligation
  • Companies whose details have changed since the last confirmation statement
  • Companies that simply need to confirm that nothing has changed at all

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?

A confirmation statement is a document sent to Companies House to confirm that the information they hold about your company is accurate and up to date. It is a check-and-confirm filing, not a set of accounts, and it is a separate requirement from annual accounts and a Corporation Tax Return.

  • Registered office address and the address kept on the public register
  • Company directors, secretaries and their details
  • Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
  • People with significant control (PSCs) and their registrable details
  • Standard industrial classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
  • The confirmation date and the statement that the company has complied with its filing obligations

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information they hold about your company is correct as at a particular date. It is sometimes called a CS01, which is the form used for the filing. It is a check-and-confirm document: you are notifying Companies House that the register entries for your company — such as directors, shareholders, registered office and people with significant control — are accurate, or that you have updated them. It is not a financial document and does not contain profit, turnover or tax figures.

In most cases, yes. Being dormant or not currently trading does not normally remove the requirement to send a confirmation statement to Companies House. A dormant company still has a legal existence, directors and shareholders, and Companies House still needs to know that the details it holds are correct. There are limited circumstances where the filing position may differ, so if you are unsure about your own company, it is worth checking your company's filing history on the Companies House register or asking an accountant who is familiar with your circumstances.

UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, based on a review period set by Companies House. That review period is not the same as your accounting period or your annual accounts deadline, and the two should not be confused. You can also file more than one confirmation statement within a review period — for example, if there has been a change you want to confirm and record sooner rather than waiting for the next due date.

The statement confirms the information held on the public register at that moment, which typically includes the registered office address, the directors and company secretary, shareholders and the statement of capital, people with significant control, and the SIC codes describing the company's activities. If any of those details have changed, they usually need to be reported separately — often before or alongside the confirmation statement — rather than simply being noted on the confirmation statement itself. Part of good Confirmation Statement Filing is checking those records and spotting changes early.

A confirmation statement and annual accounts are two completely separate filings. The confirmation statement tells Companies House that the company's statutory details are correct; annual accounts set out the company's financial position and performance for an accounting period. They have their own deadlines and their own forms. Filing one does not satisfy the requirement to file the other, and keeping both up to date is part of running a company properly.

A confirmation statement is filed with Companies House and deals with company information. A Corporation Tax Return, often referred to as a CT600, is filed with HMRC and deals with the company's taxable profits and tax position. They are submitted to different authorities, for different purposes, and on different deadlines. Completing a confirmation statement does not mean your company's tax obligations have been dealt with, and vice versa.

If a confirmation statement is not filed when it is due, Companies House may take action against the company and its directors, and a company that falls behind with its filings can ultimately face being struck off the register. The exact consequences depend on the company's circumstances and how overdue the filing becomes. The practical answer is simple: file on time, or as soon as you notice that something is outstanding, and deal with any changes to company information promptly.

We start by reviewing the information currently held at Companies House and checking it against what we know about your company. We then highlight anything that needs updating — for instance a change of director, a new shareholder, or a move of registered office — and explain how that should be reported. Once the details are confirmed, we prepare and submit the confirmation statement on your behalf and let you know it has been done. It is a straightforward process designed to save you time and reduce the risk of an easy-to-avoid oversight.

Getting started is simple. Send us your company name and number, or get in touch through the website, and we will confirm your filing position and what is needed. If you have recently changed directors, shareholders or your registered office, tell us at the same time so we can handle the Companies House information updates as part of the same process. From there we take care of the filing and keep you informed at each stage, with clear and transparent pricing and no jargon.
