We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Confirmation Statement Requirements
Every UK limited company and LLP must confirm the information on the public register each year, even where nothing has changed and the company is not trading.

If your company pays even one director a salary, you must operate PAYE and file RTI submissions with HMRC.
Company Information
Once any employee earns above the Lower Earnings Limit, RTI payroll filing becomes a legal obligation each pay period.

Who Needs Confirmation Statement Filing in Herts?
Most companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement, and that includes companies based in Herts that are dormant, not currently trading, or simply quiet between projects. Being inactive does not normally remove the requirement. A confirmation statement is about confirming the information Companies House holds, so it sits separately from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.
- Active limited companies and LLPs on the Companies House register
- Dormant companies that are not currently trading
- Non-trading companies and those between periods of activity
- Companies whose directors, shareholders or PSC details have changed
- Companies approaching their first confirmation statement date after incorporation
- Directors who would rather have the filing handled professionally

What Is a Confirmation Statement?
A confirmation statement (filed as form CS01) is a short statutory filing that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date. It is a check on the public register, not a financial report. It is a separate requirement from your annual accounts and from your Corporation Tax Return, and it does not replace either of them.
- Registered office address and company name details
- Directors, company secretary and their service addresses
- Shareholders and share capital, where the company has shares
- People with significant control (PSC) information
- SIC codes and the nature of the company's business activity
- Confirmation that the company intends to carry on lawful business activity
- Separate changes, such as a new director or registered office, which may need to be reported to Companies House on their own forms rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company on the public register is accurate and up to date. It covers details such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders, people with significant control and the nature of your business. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return — its purpose is to keep the public record correct.
Any UK company on the Companies House register will normally need to file a confirmation statement, wherever in the country it is based, including companies in Herts. That applies to trading companies, dormant companies and companies that are not currently active. If you are unsure whether your own company needs to file, it is worth checking your position rather than assuming you are exempt.
A company generally needs to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, covering what is known as the review period. You can file more than one during a review period if information changes and you want the register updated sooner, though that is a choice rather than an obligation. The confirmation statement date is separate from your accounting reference date and from your annual accounts deadline, so the two should not be confused.
The usual things to check are the registered office address, the directors and company secretary, shareholders and share capital where applicable, people with significant control, SIC codes and the statement of lawful purpose. If something has changed, there are often two steps: certain changes must be reported to Companies House separately using the appropriate form, and the confirmation statement then confirms the updated position. Getting that order right keeps your register consistent.
In most cases, yes. A dormant company is still registered at Companies House, so the information held about it still needs confirming. Dormancy primarily affects what you report for accounting and tax purposes rather than whether a confirmation statement is due. Where a company has genuinely unusual circumstances, it is best to check the position for that specific company.
No — they are separate filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement confirms company information held at Companies House, annual accounts report the company's financial position, and a Corporation Tax Return (CT600) reports taxable profit to HMRC. VAT Returns are separate again. Completing one of these does not satisfy the others, and their deadlines do not usually fall at the same time.
If the confirmation statement is not filed by the deadline, the company falls into default on that requirement. Companies House has powers to act where companies fail to file, and continued non-filing can place the company and its directors in a difficult position. Because the consequences depend on the facts, the safest approach is to file on time or to have someone file it for you.
You provide your company name and Companies House number along with any details that have changed since the last confirmation statement. From there, the information is reviewed, any separate Companies House updates that are needed are identified, and the confirmation statement is prepared and submitted on your behalf. You are told once the filing has been made, so you know your register is accurate and this particular obligation has been dealt with.
