I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Who Needs Confirmation Statement Filing?

Confirmation Statement Filing applies to most companies registered at Companies House, whether they are trading actively, dormant, or simply not trading at the moment. A confirmation statement is a separate filing from your annual accounts and from your Corporation Tax Return, and it exists to confirm that the details Companies House holds about your company are correct.

  • Private limited companies and public limited companies registered in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland
  • Limited liability partnerships and other entity types that are required to file a confirmation statement
  • Dormant companies, which normally still need to file even when no transactions have taken place
  • Non-trading companies that are not currently generating income but remain on the register
  • Companies whose details have changed during the year, such as directors, shareholders or registered office address
  • Companies that have already filed before — the requirement generally repeats at least once every 12 months

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Confirm?

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is not a set of annual accounts, and it is not a Corporation Tax Return — it is a check on your company's public record rather than a report on profit, tax or financial performance.

  • Registered office address and, where applicable, a service address
  • Directors, company secretary (if appointed) and their details
  • Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
  • People with significant control (PSCs) and their registrable details
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
  • Confirmation of the statement of lawful purpose and any other information Companies House requires
  • Whether anything has changed since the last confirmation statement — and if so, what needs updating
  • Changes that must be reported separately, such as appointing a director or changing the registered office, rather than waiting for the next confirmation statement

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specified date. It confirms details such as your registered office, directors, shareholders, people with significant control, share capital and SIC codes. It is not a financial document — it does not report profit, loss or tax, and it is a completely separate filing from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.

Most companies registered at Companies House need to file one, including private limited companies, public limited companies and limited liability partnerships. The requirement generally applies whether or not the company is trading, so a company that is dormant or simply not currently active will usually still need to file. If you are unsure how the requirement applies to your particular entity type or circumstances, it is worth checking your company's position before the review period ends.

UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, based on a review period set by Companies House rather than by your accounting period or your annual accounts deadline. The due date is typically around 14 days after the end of that review period, and Companies House will show the relevant dates on your company record. You can also file more than one confirmation statement during a review period if your company information changes and you want the public record updated sooner.

The filing checks the details Companies House already holds, including the registered office address, directors and company secretary, shareholders, statement of capital, people with significant control, SIC codes and the statement of lawful purpose. You confirm that these are correct as at the confirmation date, or you update them where something has changed. Some changes must be reported separately rather than being left until the confirmation statement — for example, appointing or resigning a director, changing the registered office, or updating share information.

Yes, in most cases. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, because the filing is about confirming the accuracy of your Companies House record rather than reporting trading activity. A dormant company may have fewer changes to report, but the confirmation statement itself still needs to be submitted for the relevant review period. Dormant company accounts are a separate filing with a different deadline.

They are two distinct filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is correct — addresses, officers, shareholders and similar details. Annual accounts report the company's financial position and performance for an accounting period and are also filed at Companies House. Preparing or filing one does not satisfy the requirement for the other, and the deadlines are calculated differently. The confirmation statement should not be confused with your accounting period or your accounts deadline.

A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is submitted to HMRC and reports the company's taxable profits and tax position for an accounting period. A confirmation statement is submitted to Companies House and confirms that the company's public record is accurate. They go to different organisations, serve different purposes and have separate deadlines. Filing a confirmation statement does not deal with your Corporation Tax obligations, and filing a CT600 does not deal with your confirmation statement.

Failing to file a confirmation statement is a breach of company law. Companies House may assume the company is no longer carrying on business and can begin the process of striking it off the register, and directors can face further action. If a company is struck off, its assets can pass to the Crown and the directors may face restrictions. If you have missed a filing or think you may be close to a deadline, it is worth acting promptly and seeking advice on your options.

We start by reviewing the information Companies House currently holds about your company and comparing it with the details you provide. Where something needs to change, we can help you handle the relevant Companies House information updates and explain whether any change needs to be reported separately. We then prepare and submit your confirmation statement, and confirm once the filing has been completed so you have a clear record of what was sent and when. If you would like to get started, simply get in touch with your company details and we will take it from there.
