I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

Preparing, reviewing and filing your annual accounts with Companies House

Annual Accounts Filing normally involves pulling together the financial information for your accounting period, preparing the accounts in the format that applies to your company, and reviewing them before submission. Once the accounts are finalised, they are filed with Companies House where the company is required to do so. Directors remain responsible for the accounts, even when we prepare and submit them on the company’s behalf.

Annual accounts are the statutory accounts a company prepares for a financial year, showing information about its financial position and performance for that accounting period. They are prepared under the accounting framework that applies to the company, which for some small companies means a reduced disclosure regime, and they are separate from the company's Corporation Tax Return.

UK registered limited companies generally have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, although the exact requirements depend on the company's circumstances and any available exemptions. Company size, accounting period, whether the company is dormant and the applicable accounting framework can all affect what is prepared and filed. It is worth checking your position before assuming the same approach applies to you as to another company.

The filing deadline depends on your company's accounting reference period and individual circumstances, so there is no single date that applies to every company. Private companies generally have a Companies House deadline based on the end of their accounting reference period, and first accounts can follow different rules. Always confirm the exact date for your company, as late filing can lead to penalties from Companies House.

No. Annual accounts filed with Companies House are separate from a Company Tax Return (CT600) submitted to HMRC. Information from the accounts is often used when preparing the company's Corporation Tax computation and CT600, but filing annual accounts with Companies House is not the same as filing a Corporation Tax Return, and the two have different deadlines and audiences.

No, they are different filings. A confirmation statement confirms details such as the company's registered office, directors and shareholders, while annual accounts set out financial information for the accounting period. Both may be due at Companies House, but they are separate obligations with separate deadlines, and completing one does not satisfy the other.

Dormant companies can still have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, so being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes does not automatically remove the requirement to file. Dormant accounts are usually simpler, but they still need to be prepared and submitted correctly and on time. We can confirm what applies to your company and help with dormant accounts where relevant.

Companies that qualify for the micro-entities regime may be able to prepare accounts using FRS 105 where the regime applies and is chosen. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees, subject to the relevant rules and exclusions. Meeting the figures does not automatically confirm eligibility, so the rules should be checked for your company.

Yes. We support with annual accounts preparation, accounts review and Companies House filing, including micro-entity accounts, FRS 105 accounts and dormant accounts where these apply. Directors stay responsible for making sure the accounts are properly prepared and filed on time, but we can handle the practical preparation and submission and keep you clear on what is happening and when.
