I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Annual accounts are the statutory financial statements a company prepares for a specific accounting period. They give a picture of the company's financial position and performance for that period and are prepared under the accounting framework that applies to the company, such as the micro-entities regime with FRS 105 where that regime is relevant and chosen. Depending on the company, the accounts may include a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes and other required statements or information.
Most UK registered limited companies have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, subject to their circumstances and any applicable exemptions. The exact requirements can differ depending on whether the company is a micro-entity, a dormant company, a one-director company or a larger small company, and on factors such as the accounting period and the accounting framework used. Because the rules and exemptions vary, it is worth confirming what applies to your individual company rather than assuming every company files the same type of accounts.
The filing deadline depends on your company's circumstances and accounting period. Private companies generally have a Companies House filing deadline based on their accounting reference period, and a company's first set of accounts can follow different rules from later periods. Rather than relying on a general date, check the deadline that applies to your own company and work back from it when preparing the accounts. It is also worth remembering that this Companies House deadline is separate from HMRC Corporation Tax filing and payment dates.
What is included depends on the size of the company, the applicable accounting framework, any exemptions and current Companies House requirements. A set of annual accounts may include a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes to the accounts and other required statements or information. Smaller companies may be able to file less information publicly than larger ones, so the content and level of detail can differ significantly from one company to another.
No. Annual accounts are filed with Companies House, while a CT600 is the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC. They are separate obligations with separate deadlines. Information from the accounts is often used when preparing the company's Corporation Tax computation and CT600, but filing annual accounts with Companies House does not itself constitute filing a Corporation Tax Return with HMRC.
Dormant companies may still have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House. Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes does not automatically mean a company is exempt from filing annual accounts, and the position can depend on the company's circumstances and applicable exemptions. If your company has not been trading, it is worth checking what still needs to be prepared and filed rather than assuming nothing is due.
Yes. An accountant or filing service can help with annual accounts preparation, an accounts review and the Companies House accounts filing itself. Even so, the directors remain responsible for ensuring the company's accounts are properly prepared and filed on time. Working with a specialist can make the process clearer, but it does not transfer that responsibility away from the directors.
Companies House can impose late filing penalties when annual accounts are filed after the relevant deadline. The penalty position depends on how late the accounts are and on the company's circumstances. These penalties relate to Companies House annual accounts and are separate from any HMRC Corporation Tax Return penalties or interest, so it is important to identify which obligation a notice refers to. If you are concerned about a deadline, it is best to act as early as possible.
