─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions from directors of small UK limited companies. Can’t see yours? Ask us directly and we’ll answer the same working day.
Micro-entity accounts are a simplified form of statutory accounts that eligible small companies can prepare under the micro-entity regime. They are filed with Companies House and contain reduced disclosure requirements compared to full accounts, making them quicker and easier to prepare.
Private limited companies and certain other entities, such as qualifying LLPs, may qualify for micro-entity accounts if they meet the size criteria. Generally, a company must meet at least two of three conditions: annual turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees, subject to the rules for the accounting period.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally qualifies as a micro-entity if it meets at least two of these three criteria: annual turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. For earlier periods, different thresholds may apply.
FRS 105 is the Financial Reporting Standard applicable to micro-entities. It sets out the reduced disclosure requirements and simplified accounting rules that eligible companies must follow when preparing micro-entity accounts. Using FRS 105 can significantly reduce the administrative burden of statutory reporting.
To prepare your micro-entity accounts, we typically need your company's financial records for the year, including bank statements, invoices, and expense receipts. If your records are incomplete, we can help you organise them or advise on what additional information is needed to proceed.
Our service includes preparing your statutory accounts under FRS 105 and filing them with Companies House. We also assist with the preparation of your CT600 Corporation Tax Return for HMRC, where applicable, and can help with confirmation statements and other compliance needs.
Yes, micro-entity accounts are filed with Companies House as part of your company's statutory reporting obligations. This is separate from your Corporation Tax Return, which is submitted to HMRC. We can handle both filings for you.
No, filing your statutory accounts with Companies House does not automatically complete your Corporation Tax obligations. You must also submit a CT600 Corporation Tax Return to HMRC, even if your accounts are filed. Our service can assist with both to ensure nothing is missed.
