─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions from directors of small UK limited companies. Can’t see yours? Ask us directly and we’ll answer the same working day.
Micro-entity accounts are a simplified form of statutory accounts available to qualifying small companies. They are prepared under the FRS 105 standard and require reduced disclosures compared to full statutory accounts, making them quicker and more cost-effective to prepare.
Private limited companies and other eligible entities, such as some LLPs, may qualify if they meet at least two of three conditions: annual turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. Qualification depends on the company's specific circumstances and accounting period.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally qualifies if it meets at least two of: turnover not over £1 million, balance sheet total not over £500,000, and average employees not over 10. Earlier periods have different thresholds, so we recommend reviewing your company's figures with an accountant.
FRS 105 is the Financial Reporting Standard applicable to micro-entities. It sets out the presentation and disclosure requirements for micro-entity accounts, allowing a reduced level of detail in the balance sheet and notes compared to other frameworks.
We typically need your company's bank statements, income and expense records, details of any fixed assets, and information on loans or other liabilities. If your records are incomplete, we can advise on what to provide and help you organise them.
Our service includes preparation of FRS 105 accounts, filing with Companies House, and, if required, preparation and submission of the CT600 Corporation Tax Return to HMRC. We also provide guidance on your filing deadlines and any other compliance matters.
Yes, statutory accounts, including micro-entity accounts, must be filed with Companies House for public record. This is separate from your Corporation Tax Return, which is submitted to HMRC.
Yes, even if you file micro-entity accounts with Companies House, you generally still need to submit a CT600 Corporation Tax Return to HMRC. These are separate filings with different deadlines and purposes.
