─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions from directors of small UK limited companies. Can’t see yours? Ask us directly and we’ll answer the same working day.
Micro-entity accounts are a simplified form of statutory accounts that eligible small companies can prepare under the micro-entity regime. They contain reduced disclosures compared to full accounts and are filed with Companies House. FRS 105 is the financial reporting standard that applies to these accounts.
Private limited companies and certain other entities, such as qualifying LLPs, may qualify if they meet the micro-entity criteria. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions: annual turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. Eligibility depends on the company's circumstances and applicable rules.
FRS 105 is the Financial Reporting Standard applicable to micro-entities in the UK. It sets out the presentation and disclosure requirements for micro-entity accounts, allowing reduced information compared to FRS 102. Companies using the micro-entity framework must prepare their accounts in accordance with FRS 105.
To prepare micro-entity accounts, we need up-to-date accounting records, including bank statements, invoices, receipts, and details of any loans or share capital. If your records are incomplete, we can advise on what is required. We will also need confirmation of any transactions with directors or related parties.
No, they are separate obligations. Statutory accounts are filed with Companies House, while Corporation Tax Returns (CT600) are submitted to HMRC. Filing accounts with Companies House does not automatically satisfy your Corporation Tax filing duty. We can assist with both to ensure you meet all requirements.
Eligible LLPs may qualify for micro-entity reporting where they meet the applicable requirements. The same thresholds generally apply, but specific rules for LLPs differ in some respects. We can review your LLP's circumstances to determine eligibility.
We agree a clear fixed fee before any work begins, so you know exactly what you will pay. The fee covers the preparation of your micro-entity accounts and filing with Companies House, and optionally the CT600 submission. There are no hidden costs, and we will always confirm the scope of work in advance.
If your records are incomplete, we will let you know what information is missing and guide you on how to provide it. In some cases, we may recommend bookkeeping support to bring your records up to date. We can then prepare your accounts based on the complete information.
