FRS 105 Micro Entity Accounts in Pevensey

FRS 105 Micro Entity Accounts in Pevensey are prepared under the financial reporting framework that applies to companies choosing the UK micro-entities regime. FRS 105 sets out how a qualifying micro-entity recognises, measures and presents its assets, liabilities, income and expenses, and what it discloses in its financial statements. Because the regime is optional and eligibility depends on a company’s size and its wider circumstances, professional preparation helps to confirm whether the framework is the right fit, that the figures are drawn accurately from the underlying records, and that the accounts are presented consistently from one year to the next. Whether you are filing for the first time, have reviewed your framework as the business has grown, or simply want your existing accounts checked, the focus stays on producing clear, well-presented FRS 105 financial statements for your Pevensey company.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

─── FRS 105 EXPLAINED

FRS 105 Explained: The Micro-Entities Regime in Plain English

FRS 105 is the UK financial reporting standard written specifically for micro-entities — the smallest companies within the UK company size framework. It works alongside the micro-entities regime, which allows companies that qualify to prepare simpler accounts with reduced disclosure than larger standards require. Put simply, if your company qualifies for the micro-entities regime and you choose to apply it, FRS 105 is the standard you use to prepare your annual financial statements. It stays deliberately straightforward: the standard is built on the recognition and measurement approach of FRS 102 but with far fewer notes and a more compact presentation, which is why it suits owner-managed companies in Pevensey and similar businesses that want accounts proportionate to their size. The important point is that nothing happens automatically — qualifying is one step, choosing the regime is another — and the accounts still need to reflect the company’s actual transactions, assets and liabilities accurately and consistently.

Who Can Use FRS 105 in the UK?

FRS 105 is intended for companies that qualify for the UK micro-entities regime and decide to apply it. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least 2 of the 3 applicable size conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. Meeting those size conditions, however, is not the only consideration — other eligibility rules and exclusions can apply, and certain companies are not able to use the micro-entities regime regardless of their size. Eligibility therefore needs to be considered alongside the company’s structure, activities and reporting history. If your Pevensey company appears to qualify, the next question is whether applying FRS 105 is the right choice for you, and that is a decision worth taking with proper advice rather than assuming it applies automatically.

─── What We Review

Everything Your Micro-Entity Company Is Required to Get Right

Most compliance problems are not deliberate. They come from a missed deadline, an accounts template that no longer matches FRS 105, or dividends taken without the paperwork to support them. Our review covers each area in turn and reports back in plain English.

FRS 105 Balance Sheet

A statutory balance sheet prepared to the FRS 105 format, using the reduced disclosure the micro-entities regime allows.

Profit & Loss Account

A profit and loss account prepared for your own records and for your Corporation Tax computation, without public filing.

Required Notes & Disclosures

Preparation of the notes and disclosures required for the company's accounts under the applicable reporting requirements.

Corporation Tax Support

Separate Corporation Tax support can be provided where included in the agreed service. The Corporation Tax calculation is governed by tax rules rather than FRS 105.

Companies House Filing

Your FRS 105 accounts filed with Companies House in the correct format, before your accounts filing deadline.

Director Copy Pack

A full signed copy of your accounts and tax return, ready for your bank, mortgage lender or accountant records.

Carefully Prepared FRS 105 Micro Entity Accounts for Pevensey Companies

Preparing FRS 105 Micro Entity Accounts starts with your financial records: bookkeeping, bank and card statements, sales and purchase invoices, payroll information, details of assets bought or sold, and any loans or director’s balances. Those records are then used to build the financial statements — typically a balance sheet, a profit and loss account where required, and the limited notes the micro-entities regime calls for — before the accounts are finalised for the company’s members and, where relevant, filed at Companies House. It is worth keeping two things separate in your mind: the accounts themselves are a financial reporting exercise, while a Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate submission to HMRC that takes the figures from those accounts as its starting point but includes its own adjustments. Working with an accountant means the numbers are checked against the underlying records, the presentation follows the applicable reporting requirements, and any questions about the accounts are answered before they are signed off.

FRS 105 is the UK accounting standard written for micro-entities. It sets out how a company that qualifies for, and chooses to apply, the micro-entities regime should recognise, measure and present its assets, liabilities, income and expenses, and what it needs to disclose in its annual financial statements. It is a financial reporting framework rather than a tax document, so it does not determine how much Corporation Tax a company pays.

It is available to companies that qualify for the UK micro-entities regime and then choose to apply it. Qualification is based mainly on size, but other rules and exclusions can affect whether a particular company is eligible, so not every small company will qualify — and qualifying does not oblige you to use it. A company that qualifies may instead prepare accounts under a fuller framework such as FRS 102.

No. The micro-entities regime is an available accounting regime, not a mandatory one. A company that meets the size conditions can choose to apply it, in which case FRS 105 is the standard used for its financial statements, or it can prepare accounts under a fuller framework. Once a framework is adopted it is normally applied consistently, and switching frameworks is treated as a change in accounting framework rather than a routine tweak.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least 2 of these 3 size conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. Meeting the size conditions is not the whole test, however, because other eligibility rules and exclusions can apply. That is why it is worth checking your specific circumstances rather than assuming the regime is available.

Both are UK accounting standards, but they are aimed at different sizes of company. FRS 102 is used by a much wider range of businesses and offers more recognition and measurement options along with significantly more disclosure. FRS 105 is the micro-entities standard, derived from FRS 102's approach but simplified, with fewer notes and a more compact presentation. The trade-off is that FRS 105 gives you less flexibility in how certain items are presented.

Companies normally file annual accounts with Companies House, and a company within the micro-entities regime can file accounts prepared under it. The version filed publicly may be less detailed than the full accounts prepared for the company's members, depending on what the applicable rules permit. Filing accounts at Companies House is a separate process from filing a Corporation Tax Return with HMRC.

Yes, they are two different things. FRS 105 Micro Entity Accounts deal with financial reporting — how the company's results and financial position are presented. A CT600 is the Corporation Tax Return submitted to HMRC, which starts from the figures in the accounts but applies its own tax adjustments, such as disallowable expenses and capital allowances. Preparing one does not automatically complete the other, and they go to different organisations.

Typically your bookkeeping or a clear summary of income and expenses for the period, bank and credit card statements, sales and purchase invoices, payroll information, details of assets purchased or sold, loan and director's loan balances, and the previous year's accounts for comparison. If your records are incomplete or partly missing, it is best to say so early so any gaps can be resolved before the accounts are finalised.
