I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

They are the company's first set of annual statutory accounts, prepared for its initial accounting period — usually running from the date of incorporation to the company's first accounting reference date. They normally include a balance sheet, and a profit and loss account where the applicable framework requires one, along with the supporting notes and statements. Once prepared, they are filed with Companies House where required. Preparing first-year accounts is a statutory obligation for a limited company, not a matter of choice, even where trading activity has been limited.
There is no single answer that applies to every company. The first accounting period normally starts on the incorporation date and ends on the company's first accounting reference date, and the filing deadline is measured from that reference date in line with the applicable Companies House requirements. Because the first period is often longer than twelve months, and because accounting reference dates differ between companies, two businesses incorporated in the same month in Andover may not share the same deadline. The safest approach is to check the specific deadline shown on the company's Companies House record rather than assume a standard date applies.
It depends on what the company has actually done during the period. Typical items include bank statements and transactions, sales or income records, purchase invoices and expense receipts, details of any assets bought, share capital information, any director loans or financing arrangements, and payroll or VAT records where those are relevant. If a company has had very few transactions, the records required will be correspondingly simple. The important point is that the accounts must be supported by adequate accounting records, so it is worth keeping documents organised as the year progresses.
In most cases a company still has statutory reporting responsibilities even where it has not yet commenced trading or has seen little activity. That does not automatically mean the company is dormant, and it does not automatically mean there is nothing to file. The correct treatment depends on the company's actual circumstances and the applicable rules, and it can affect how the accounts are prepared and what is delivered to Companies House. It is worth taking advice early rather than assuming no action is required.
No — they are separate filings with separate destinations. Statutory accounts are delivered to Companies House where required, while a Corporation Tax Return such as a CT600 is submitted to HMRC where applicable. Filing your first-year accounts at Companies House does not submit a Corporation Tax Return on your behalf, and filing a CT600 does not satisfy your Companies House accounts obligation. The figures in the accounts often inform the tax position, but the two processes serve different purposes, and a company's first Corporation Tax accounting period may not be identical to its statutory accounts period.
Some companies do qualify, but not all, and being newly incorporated or having modest activity does not automatically make a company a micro-entity. Eligibility depends on meeting the applicable criteria for the relevant accounting period, and where a company qualifies it may prepare accounts under the micro-entity framework, with FRS 105 being the financial reporting standard applicable to qualifying entities using that framework. If a company does not qualify, another framework such as the small company regime may apply instead. The right approach is to assess eligibility against the company's own circumstances.
No. A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing that confirms the company's registered details are correct, and it does not take the place of statutory accounts. Filing your first-year accounts does not remove the need to keep the company's information at Companies House up to date, and it does not settle any other compliance matter either. Directors in Andover should treat accounts, confirmation statements and any HMRC filings as distinct obligations with their own requirements and timing.
Failing to deliver required accounts by the applicable deadline can lead to consequences from Companies House, and the outcome depends on the circumstances and how late the filing is. Paying any penalty does not remove the requirement to file the outstanding accounts. If a filing has been missed, the priority is usually to prepare and submit the accounts as soon as possible, and where an appeal is considered appropriate, eligibility depends on the specific circumstances and the applicable rules. Professional support can help you understand the position and get the filing back on track.
