First Year Accounts for Limited Company in Amlwch, Prepared and Filed With Professional Support

Your company’s first set of statutory accounts is a milestone worth getting right. Whether your limited company was incorporated recently in Amlwch and has just started trading, or has been sitting quietly since incorporation, the first accounting period brings reporting responsibilities that differ from the routine annual cycle that follows. Micro Entity Accounts helps directors in Amlwch prepare their first-year statutory accounts, review the underlying accounting records, and deliver the accounts to Companies House where required. We also help you understand how that filing sits alongside the other obligations that may apply, including keeping your confirmation statement up to date and, where relevant, dealing with Corporation Tax and a CT600 — a separate submission made to HMRC rather than to Companies House. Clear pricing, a straightforward process and a UK accounting team who work with newly incorporated companies every day.

I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

Your first filing timeline

Incorporation

Your first filing timeline depends on your company's incorporation date and accounting reference date.

Accounting reference date

Set by default to the last day of the month of incorporation, one year on.

First accounts due

Normally 21 months after incorporation at Companies House.

First CT600 due

12 months after the end of the accounting period, with tax due earlier.

What Are First Year Accounts for a Micro Company?

First-year accounts are the first set of statutory annual accounts a limited company prepares, covering the period from incorporation (or from the date it began trading, where the accounts period is set that way) through to its first accounting reference date. They are not optional simply because the company is new. Once a company is incorporated, it has statutory reporting obligations, and the first accounting period is the starting point for those. The length of that first period can vary: some companies have a period that runs longer than twelve months because Companies House sets the first accounting reference date by reference to the month of incorporation, while others have a shorter period. Because of this, two companies incorporated in the same month in Amlwch can still end up with different first accounting periods, and the filing deadline follows from the company’s own accounting reference date rather than from a fixed national rule of thumb. The accounts themselves normally include a balance sheet, and a profit and loss account where applicable to the framework being used, along with any notes required by that framework. Directors are responsible for making sure the accounts are prepared and filed, and for keeping adequate accounting records to support the figures. Statutory accounts are delivered to Companies House where required. That is a different process from Corporation Tax: a limited company may also need to prepare and submit a Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, to HMRC, and the company’s first Corporation Tax accounting period does not always match its statutory accounts period. Filing accounts with Companies House does not submit a CT600, and filing a CT600 does not complete the Companies House accounts filing. A confirmation statement is a third, separate filing — an annual confirmation of the company’s registered details rather than a set of financial statements — so filing first-year accounts does not replace it. On the reporting framework itself, some newly incorporated companies are eligible to prepare micro-entity accounts, but eligibility depends on meeting the applicable criteria for the relevant accounting period. FRS 105 is the financial reporting standard used by qualifying entities adopting the micro-entity framework; it does not apply automatically to every new company. Smaller companies that do not meet the micro-entity thresholds may instead fall within the small-company regime, and larger or ineligible companies follow the framework appropriate to them. The right approach is decided case by case, based on the company’s circumstances and the requirements in force for that period.

Does Your New Company Qualify as a Micro Entity?

Even in your first period, your company must meet the Companies House size criteria to file micro-entity accounts. A company generally needs to meet at least two of these three conditions.

Business Turnover

Annual Turnover of £1 Million or less. (£632,000 previously)

Balance Sheet

Balance sheet total of £500,000 or less.(£316,000 previously)

Company Size

On an average 10 or less employees

Get Your First Year Accounts Prepared Accurately and Filed on Time

If your company has just completed its first accounting period, the gap between what you have in your records and what Companies House expects can feel unclear — particularly if you have been focusing on running the business rather than working out which framework applies to you. Micro Entity Accounts can help you make sense of it, from organising bank transactions, invoices and director transactions into usable accounting records, through to preparing the statutory accounts and supporting you with the Companies House filing where required. We will also point out where a separate Corporation Tax Return, confirmation statement or other obligation may apply, so nothing gets overlooked. The value is in getting the first set of accounts right and understanding what follows — speak to us about your first-year accounts and let the groundwork be handled properly from the start.

They are the first set of statutory annual accounts covering your company's initial accounting period, running from incorporation or the start of trading through to the first accounting reference date. They normally include a balance sheet and, where the applicable framework requires it, a profit and loss account and supporting notes. They are the company's formal financial record for that period and are separate from any Corporation Tax Return submitted to HMRC.

There is no single answer that fits every company, because the deadline depends on your company's accounting reference date, the length of the first accounting period and the applicable Companies House requirements — including whether the first period is longer than twelve months, which can affect what has to be filed. The practical starting point is the incorporation date recorded at Companies House. We can look at your dates and confirm what applies to your company rather than relying on a general rule of thumb.

Typically we need your accounting records for the period. Depending on how your company has operated, that might include bank statements and transactions, sales and income records, purchase invoices and business expenses, details of any assets bought, director transactions and loans, share capital information, and payroll or VAT records if those apply. Not every company will have all of these, and a company with limited activity will naturally have fewer records — the point is to work from accurate, complete information.

A newly incorporated company still has statutory filing obligations, and first-year accounts are generally filed with Companies House where required. Companies House does not prepare the accounts, does not check whether an accountant was involved in preparing them, and does not approve them — the accounts are your company's, and the directors remain responsible for ensuring they are prepared and delivered correctly. Filing accounts is also not the same as submitting a Corporation Tax Return, which goes to HMRC where applicable.

They are the same type of document — annual statutory accounts — but the first set has its own characteristics. The first accounting period can be longer or shorter than the standard twelve months depending on the company's incorporation date and accounting reference date, and the filing requirements for that first period can differ from later years. Once the first period is complete, the company usually moves into a regular annual cycle.

It depends on the company's circumstances and the applicable rules. A company that has had no significant accounting transactions may have a reporting position that is treated differently from a company with ordinary trading activity, but this is not something to assume automatically — genuinely dormant status has specific criteria, and limited activity is not the same thing as dormancy. Directors in Amlwch should check their position rather than assume nothing needs to be filed.

No. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company and delivered to Companies House where required. A CT600 is a Corporation Tax Return submitted to HMRC, where the company has a Corporation Tax obligation. Information from the accounts is often used when preparing the tax position, but the two filings have different purposes, different destinations and their own deadlines. Completing one does not complete the other.

Some newly incorporated companies do qualify for the micro-entity framework, but not all of them, and eligibility is assessed against the applicable criteria for the relevant accounting period rather than assumed at incorporation. A company with low turnover does not automatically qualify, and FRS 105 — the standard used by qualifying entities adopting the micro-entity framework — does not apply to every new limited company as a default. Companies that do not qualify may still fall within the small-company regime. We assess this as part of preparing your first-year accounts.
