I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a company prepares and files with Companies House for an accounting period in which it has been dormant. They are usually shorter and simpler than the accounts of an active trading company, but they are still formal statutory accounts and still need to be prepared correctly for your company's circumstances. The content, layout and filing route depend on the company's position and the applicable Companies House rules, which is why it is worth confirming what applies rather than assuming one standard format covers every dormant company.
For Companies House purposes, a company is generally dormant if it has had no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period in question. That is different from simply making no profit, or pausing trading for a few months. Some transactions may be disregarded under the applicable rules, but activity such as bank charges, invoices, purchases or sales will often mean the company is not dormant for Companies House purposes. If you are unsure where your company sits, it is worth checking before you file, because the accounts you can submit depend on it.
In most cases, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still needs to file annual accounts, along with a confirmation statement, unless it has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies. Dormancy is not an exemption from Companies House filing requirements. The type of accounts you file and the route you use depend on your company's circumstances and the current rules, so it is worth confirming what applies to you rather than assuming a single standard form will always be accepted.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and a dormant company will usually still need to file one at least once a year. The confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company — such as the registered office address, directors and shareholders — is correct and up to date. Filing dormant accounts does not replace it, and filing a confirmation statement does not replace the accounts.
No — these are two separate concepts, dealt with by two different authorities. Companies House dormancy relates to your annual accounts and whether the company has had significant accounting transactions during the period. Dormancy for Corporation Tax is a separate HMRC matter with its own criteria. A company can be dormant for one purpose and not the other, so filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically mean HMRC treats the company as dormant, and it does not notify HMRC on your behalf.
That depends on your company's position with HMRC, not on its dormant status at Companies House. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate HMRC obligation, and whether one is required — or whether HMRC needs to be told the company is dormant for Corporation Tax — depends on the company's circumstances. It is worth checking with HMRC or taking advice on your specific situation rather than assuming that dormant accounts filed at Companies House cover your Corporation Tax position.
It can have transactions, but they often affect whether it counts as dormant. Bank charges, bank interest, payments to suppliers and other day-to-day activity usually mean the company has had significant accounting transactions for Companies House purposes, which may take it outside the dormant accounts route and into preparing accounts as a non-trading or small company instead. Some transactions may be disregarded under the applicable rules. If money has moved through the company's accounts at all, tell whoever is preparing the accounts so the right approach can be taken.
Yes. An accountant can review your company's position, confirm whether the dormant accounts route is appropriate, prepare the accounts in the required format and file them at Companies House on your behalf. You will typically need to provide details such as the company name and number, the accounting period, the balance sheet information, and confirmation of the company's activity — or lack of it — during the period. Confirmation statement filing can usually be handled alongside the accounts as a separate task.
