I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts filed at Companies House by a company that is dormant for Companies House purposes. They reflect a company that has had no significant accounting transactions during the period, rather than a company that has been trading and needs full statutory accounts with a profit and loss account. They are not a way of hiding activity, and they are not a substitute for other filings — they simply report an inactive position in the format that applies to your company.
Broadly, a company is dormant for Companies House purposes when it has no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period. Certain transactions are generally disregarded, but whether a specific item affects dormancy depends on the rules and on your circumstances. A company that has not been trading is not automatically dormant for this purpose, so the test is about what actually happened in the period rather than the intention behind it.
In most cases, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes will usually still have an annual accounts filing obligation every year, unless it has been formally dissolved or a specific rule applies to its situation. Being dormant does not mean the company has no filing responsibilities, and it does not mean it can simply skip the accounts. The format and route you use depend on your company's circumstances and on current Companies House rules — not every dormant company can use the same form, and the short dormant accounts form sometimes referred to as AA02 is not a universal option for every dormant company.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from the annual accounts, and a dormant company will generally still need to file one each year while it remains registered. The confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as the registered office, directors, shareholders and share capital — is correct as at the confirmation date. It is a different exercise from dormant company accounts and needs to be dealt with separately, even if nothing has changed since the previous year.
Yes. A trading company normally prepares full statutory accounts including a profit and loss account and a balance sheet, whereas a dormant company's accounts reflect a period with no significant accounting transactions and are usually far shorter. The requirements that apply to your company still depend on its own circumstances, so it is worth confirming the correct format before filing rather than assuming a dormant company and an active trading company follow the same approach.
No. These are two separate concepts, assessed by two different bodies for two different purposes. A company can be dormant for Companies House purposes but not for Corporation Tax, or the other way around. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically tell HMRC that your company is dormant for tax purposes, and it does not automatically end any Corporation Tax obligations. If you want to understand your tax position as well, that is a separate conversation from preparing and filing your Companies House accounts.
It depends on your company's circumstances and on whether HMRC treats it as dormant for Corporation Tax purposes. A Corporation Tax Return is an HMRC obligation and sits entirely outside the Companies House accounts filing process, so filing dormant company accounts does not deal with it. If you are unsure whether a return is due, it is worth checking your position with HMRC or with an accountant who can look at the specific facts.
Some transactions are generally disregarded when assessing dormancy, but others — including many bank charges and interest — go beyond what is usually ignored and may mean the company is not dormant for that period. If your company has incurred bank charges or any other payments or receipts, it is worth reviewing them before deciding which accounts to prepare, because the answer can change the filing route you need to use.
