I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts filed with Companies House for an accounting period in which the company was dormant for Companies House purposes — broadly, a period with no significant accounting transactions. They are usually much shorter and simpler than the accounts of a trading company, because they are prepared under the dormant company provisions rather than showing trading activity, turnover and profit. Even so, they are still formal statutory accounts that must be prepared and filed using the correct route for your company, which is why it is worth checking your position before submitting anything.
A company is generally treated as dormant for Companies House purposes when it has had no significant accounting transactions during the relevant period. Certain transactions are normally disregarded when assessing this, but the detail matters, so it is not simply a case of deciding you are dormant because the business has not been busy. The company's activity, the nature of any transactions and the way it has been run all feed into the assessment. If you are unsure whether your company meets the definition, it is worth reviewing the position carefully before you prepare and file dormant company accounts.
In most cases, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still has annual filing obligations, including annual accounts and a confirmation statement, unless it has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies. The confirmation statement is a separate filing from the accounts: it confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is up to date, while the accounts deal with the company's financial period. Dormant status is not an exemption from filing altogether, so the two obligations should be tracked separately.
No — they are separate concepts with separate rules. A company can be dormant for Companies House purposes but not for Corporation Tax with HMRC, or the other way around, depending on its circumstances. Filing dormant accounts at Companies House does not automatically tell HMRC that your company is dormant, and it does not automatically bring any Corporation Tax obligations to an end. If your company's tax position needs to change, that is usually a separate step with HMRC, which is why it is sensible to look at both positions rather than assuming one follows from the other.
Not always, but it depends on your company's circumstances and on HMRC's view of its position. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate HMRC obligation from your Companies House filing, and a company that is dormant at Companies House is not automatically released from it. Where a return is due, it still needs to be prepared and submitted, and any notification of dormancy to HMRC is handled separately from the accounts you file at Companies House. If you are unsure whether a return is required, it is worth reviewing your company's tax position directly rather than relying on its Companies House status.
We normally need the company's basic details — registered name and number, registered office, the accounting period dates, and details of anything that took place during that period so we can confirm whether the dormant position holds. Your Companies House authentication details, or confirmation that you would like us to handle the submission, are also useful at the outset. Where a confirmation statement is also due, we may need confirmation that the company's officers, shareholders and registered office details are still correct. The exact information depends on the company, so we usually confirm what is required once we understand your position.
It depends on the transaction and the rules that apply to it. Some transactions may be acceptable without affecting dormant status, while others can mean the company is not dormant for Companies House purposes in that period. Bank charges, interest and certain administrative or statutory costs are common examples that directors ask about, but the treatment is not always as straightforward as it appears. If your company has had any activity at all, it is worth reviewing it before preparing dormant company accounts, because using the wrong filing route can create avoidable follow-up work.
Yes. Preparing and filing dormant company accounts is a routine part of what we do, and it can be especially helpful where a director is unsure whether the company is still dormant, which filing route applies, or what else remains outstanding at Companies House. We can prepare the accounts, handle the Companies House submission, and support you with the confirmation statement where that is also due. The aim is to take the uncertainty out of Dormant Company Accounts Filing in Hampstead so the company's records stay in order with far less effort on your part.
