I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a company prepares when it has been dormant for Companies House purposes during the relevant accounting period. In broad terms, this usually means the company had no significant accounting transactions in that period, so the accounts are prepared on a simplified basis rather than reflecting trading activity, income and expenses. The exact content and the filing route depend on your company's circumstances and the Companies House rules that apply to it, so dormant company accounts are not a single one-size-fits-all document.
A company is generally treated as dormant for Companies House purposes where it has had no significant accounting transactions during the period in question. Ordinary transactions that are unavoidable for keeping the company registered — such as paying the annual confirmation statement fee or receiving interest on a bank account — are usually treated differently from genuine trading activity, but the detail matters and depends on the applicable rules. Because the test is about activity in the period rather than what you intend to do next, it is worth checking your position before each set of accounts is prepared.
Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes will generally still need to file annual accounts for its accounting period, unless it has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies. Being dormant does not mean the company has no filing responsibilities, so assuming nothing is due can lead to a missed filing. Where dormant accounts are appropriate, they still need to be prepared and delivered to Companies House as part of the company's ongoing obligations.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and a dormant company will normally still need to file one at least once every 12 months. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as the registered office, directors, shareholders and share capital — is correct as at the confirmation date. Preparing dormant company accounts does not satisfy the confirmation statement requirement, and filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy the accounts requirement; they are two distinct obligations.
Yes. A dormant company's accounting requirements can be different from those of an actively trading company, because there is no trading activity to report in the same way. The accounts are prepared on a simplified basis and are usually shorter and less detailed than full statutory accounts. That said, a dormant company cannot automatically assume it can use the same form or filing route as every other dormant company — the appropriate approach depends on the company's individual circumstances and the Companies House rules that apply to it.
No. Companies House dormancy and HMRC Corporation Tax dormancy are separate concepts with different tests. A company may be dormant for Companies House purposes while still having Corporation Tax matters to deal with, or the other way round. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically notify HMRC of dormancy, and it does not by itself remove any Corporation Tax obligations the company may have. If you are unsure how your company is viewed for tax purposes, it is worth taking advice on that point specifically.
That depends on your company's circumstances and on how HMRC views it. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate HMRC obligation, not a Companies House filing, and it is not dealt with by submitting dormant company accounts. Some companies that are dormant for Corporation Tax purposes may not need to complete a return for a given period, while others may still be asked to file one or to notify HMRC of their position. Because the answer turns on your company's specific situation, it should be checked separately from your dormant company accounts filing.
Yes. An accountant or specialist provider can prepare dormant company accounts that match your company's circumstances and submit them to Companies House on your behalf, along with supporting confirmation statement filings if you need them. This is often useful where a director is unsure whether accounts are still required, which form or filing route applies, or whether anything has changed since the last period. Having the accounts prepared and the deadlines tracked for you helps keep an inactive company's records organised and its annual filing obligations from being overlooked.
