I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a company prepares for Companies House where it has been dormant for Companies House purposes during the accounting period. In practice, they are a simpler set of accounts than those produced by a trading company, because there is limited or no financial activity to report. They are not a way of switching off your company's filing obligations. A dormant company can still be required to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement, and the exact format and contents depend on the company's circumstances and the applicable Companies House rules.
For Companies House purposes, a company is generally treated as dormant when it has had no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period. That is a narrower test than simply not trading in the everyday sense. Some transactions are disregarded for this purpose, while others can take a company outside dormancy for the period. Because the position depends on what actually happened in your company's accounts during that specific period, it is sensible to review the year's activity — including anything that passed through the bank account — before deciding whether dormant accounts are the right filing.
Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still needs to file annual accounts for each relevant accounting period, along with a confirmation statement, unless the company has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies. Dormancy changes the type of accounts you file rather than removing the obligation to file. For that reason, dormant company accounts filing is best treated as a recurring annual task with a date attached, not something you can leave until a later year catches up with you.
The confirmation statement is a separate filing from your dormant company accounts. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company — such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders and share capital — is still correct, and it is required on an annual basis for a registered company. Submitting dormant accounts does not replace it, and submitting a confirmation statement does not replace the accounts. Many dormant companies need both, which is why it helps to keep the two clearly separated in your annual filing routine.
No. They are two different concepts with different tests and different authorities. A company can be dormant for Companies House purposes while still being within the Corporation Tax system with HMRC, and the reverse can also happen. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically notify HMRC of dormancy, and it does not remove or settle any Corporation Tax obligations your company may have. If you are unsure how your company is treated for tax purposes, it is worth reviewing your position with HMRC separately from your Companies House filings.
That depends on the company's circumstances and on what HMRC has asked for. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate HMRC obligation from dormant company accounts filing, and the two are not interchangeable. Companies House dormancy does not automatically mean HMRC treats the company as dormant, and it does not automatically bring Corporation Tax obligations to an end. If you have received a notice to file, or you are unsure whether one is expected, this is a matter to check directly with HMRC rather than assuming your Companies House filing covers it.
Typically we need your company name, registered number, accounting period dates, registered office details, and the company's basic statutory information such as directors and share details. It also helps to know what, if anything, moved through the company during the period — bank interest, charges, transfers between accounts or similar — because those details determine whether the company still qualifies as dormant for Companies House purposes. Providing clear information up front makes preparation and filing more straightforward and reduces the risk of having to revisit the accounts.
Yes, and this is one of the most common points of confusion. A dormant company can still have a bank account, and small items such as bank charges or interest can appear. Whether those transactions affect your dormant status for Companies House purposes depends on the nature of the transaction and the applicable rules, so it is not safe to assume that any movement means the company is no longer dormant — or that no movement at all means the filing route is straightforward. Reviewing the period's transactions properly before filing is the reliable approach.
