I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts filed at Companies House by a company that is dormant for Companies House purposes — typically meaning it has had no significant accounting transactions in the period covered by the accounts. They are a simplified set of accounts rather than a full trading set, but they are still formal annual accounts with a filing requirement attached. The exact content and the route used to file depend on your company's circumstances and the applicable Companies House rules, and not every dormant company will use the same form or submission method.
Broadly, a company is dormant for Companies House purposes where it has no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period in question. 'Significant' matters here: certain transactions, such as a company paying its own incorporation or filing fees, may be treated differently from trading income and expenses. A company that has never traded can often be dormant from incorporation, while a company that has traded and then stopped may need to look carefully at the period in question. Whether your company qualifies is a matter of fact for that specific period, not simply a label the director chooses.
In most cases, yes. A dormant company may still have Companies House filing obligations, and annual accounts are usually part of that. Dormancy is not a blanket exemption from filing — it generally changes what the accounts look like rather than removing the requirement altogether. The exceptions tend to be narrow and depend on the company's specific situation, such as having been formally dissolved or another specific rule applying. If you are unsure whether your company still needs to file, it is worth checking your position rather than assuming dormancy means nothing is due.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and a dormant company will normally still need to file one. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as directors, registered office and share details — is up to date, and it is filed on its own cycle. Filing dormant accounts does not replace the confirmation statement, and filing a confirmation statement does not replace the accounts. Both are separate obligations, and we can help keep track of them as part of your dormant company filing.
No — they are separate concepts with different tests, and being dormant for one does not automatically mean you are dormant for the other. Companies House dormancy is largely about whether the company has had significant accounting transactions in the period. HMRC looks at its own criteria when considering Corporation Tax dormancy. A company could be dormant at Companies House but still have Corporation Tax matters to deal with, or vice versa. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not notify HMRC of dormancy, so any HMRC position needs to be dealt with separately.
A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is an HMRC obligation and is entirely separate from your Companies House accounts filing. Whether a return is required depends on your company's circumstances and on HMRC's view of its position — for example, whether HMRC has asked for a return or whether the company has been formally treated as dormant for Corporation Tax purposes. Filing dormant company accounts at Companies House does not answer a Corporation Tax question and does not automatically stop Corporation Tax obligations. If you are unsure about your HMRC position, it is best to confirm it directly with HMRC or with an adviser.
We usually need your company name and number, the accounting period being reported on, details of the directors and registered office as held at Companies House, and confirmation that there were no significant accounting transactions in that period. It also helps to know whether the company has ever traded, whether it holds any assets or bank accounts, and whether anything unusual happened in the period — for example a change of name, a share issue, or a decision to close the company. The more accurate the information you provide, the more reliably we can confirm whether dormant company accounts are the right route for that period.
It can, and this is one of the most common areas of confusion. A company is not automatically dormant simply because it is quiet — the test looks at whether there were significant accounting transactions. Some minor items, such as certain company-related fees, may be treated differently from normal trading income and expenditure, while bank charges or similar costs may need closer consideration. Because the treatment depends on the nature of the transactions and the rules applying to the period, it is worth having the details reviewed before the accounts are prepared and filed.
