CT600 Tax Return Filing in Maghera — Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

If your company needs to report its Corporation Tax position to HMRC, CT600 Tax Return Filing in Maghera gives you a clear, supported route from accounting records through to submission. The CT600 is the Company Tax Return itself: it sets out your company’s income, allowable deductions, taxable profit and the resulting Corporation Tax position for the accounting period, and it is submitted to HMRC rather than to Companies House. It is not the same thing as your statutory accounts, which are prepared under an applicable accounting framework and filed separately with Companies House, nor is it a Confirmation Statement or a VAT Return. Professional support means your figures are reviewed, your tax adjustments are considered, and the return is prepared with accuracy and clarity before it goes to HMRC. You keep control of the process while someone experienced handles the detail, the paperwork and the filing, so the administrative burden is reduced and nothing is rushed at the last minute. Whether your company is a small trading business, a contractor, a landlord company or a micro-entity with straightforward affairs, we can help you understand what is required, what information is needed, and how the numbers on your accounts translate into the figures reported in your Company Tax Return.

I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

What Is a Micro-Entity CT600 and How Does It Fit With CT600 Tax Return Filing?

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. A CT600 is simply the Company Tax Return that a UK company submits to HMRC to report its Corporation Tax position, and it is used by companies of all sizes, including those that qualify as micro-entities. A micro-entity is a company that meets the relevant size criteria and can therefore prepare its statutory accounts under a simplified accounting framework, typically FRS 105. That accounting framework affects how the statutory accounts are drawn up and filed with Companies House; it does not, by itself, decide what Corporation Tax is due. Where a company is required to submit a Company Tax Return, the CT600 is filed with HMRC, while the statutory accounts go to Companies House — two related obligations, but two separate filings with different recipients and different purposes. Your accounting records and the figures in your accounts are usually the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, but taxable profit can differ from accounting profit. Adjustments may be needed, for example to add back disallowable expenditure, to claim available reliefs or allowances, or to account for income and expenses that are treated differently for tax purposes. Depreciation charged in the accounts, for instance, is generally not an allowable deduction in itself, and capital allowances may be claimed instead. The result of those adjustments is the taxable profit used to determine the Corporation Tax position reported on the CT600. Not every micro-entity will owe Corporation Tax — whether tax is payable depends on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position — and filing the CT600 is a separate obligation from paying any Corporation Tax that is due, even though both arise from the same accounting period. If you are unsure how your micro-entity accounts feed into CT600 Tax Return Filing, it is worth having the calculation reviewed before the return is submitted.

A CT600 is the form used to submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC. It reports your company's income, allowable deductions, taxable profit and the resulting Corporation Tax position for a given accounting period. It is a tax filing made to HMRC, and it is separate from the statutory accounts you file with Companies House, from your Confirmation Statement and from any VAT Returns you submit.

Whether your company needs to submit a Company Tax Return depends on its circumstances and on what HMRC has issued or requires. Companies that are within the scope of Corporation Tax will generally need to report their position, and HMRC may issue a notice requiring a return. Some companies may be dormant or otherwise outside the requirement to file, but that depends on the facts. If you are unsure whether a return is required for your accounting period, it is worth checking before you assume it is not.

Yes. The statutory accounts are prepared under an applicable accounting framework and are filed with Companies House, where they become part of the public record. The CT600 is the Company Tax Return filed with HMRC. The two are related in that your accounts figures often provide the starting point for the tax calculation, but they are separate documents, filed with different bodies, for different purposes, and one does not substitute for the other.

They are related but not the same. The Corporation Tax computation is the working that starts from your accounting profit and applies the necessary tax adjustments to arrive at taxable profit and the Corporation Tax position. The CT600 is the return that reports that position to HMRC. In practice the computation supports and underpins the figures entered on the CT600, so preparing one properly makes the other far more straightforward.

There is no separate micro-entity version of the CT600 — companies of all sizes use the same Company Tax Return. A micro-entity that is within the scope of Corporation Tax may still need to submit a return to HMRC where required, even if its statutory accounts are prepared under a simplified framework such as FRS 105. Being a micro-entity affects how your accounts are prepared and filed with Companies House; it does not automatically settle whether a CT600 is due or whether any Corporation Tax is payable. Those points depend on the company's own circumstances and taxable position.

Taxable profit usually begins with the profit shown in your accounts, but it is not simply a copy of that figure. Adjustments may be needed to add back expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes, to deduct items treated differently under tax rules, and to claim any reliefs or capital allowances that are available. A common example is depreciation charged in the accounts, which is generally not an allowable deduction in itself, with capital allowances claimed instead. The adjusted figure is the taxable profit used to determine the Corporation Tax position reported on your CT600.

No. Filing the Company Tax Return and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations, even though both relate to the same accounting period. Submitting the CT600 reports your company's position to HMRC; payment is a separate transaction that must be dealt with in its own right. It is entirely possible to have filed correctly and still have an outstanding payment, or to have paid and still have filing work to complete, so both need to be tracked.

HMRC can apply penalties and interest when a Company Tax Return is filed late or when tax is paid late, and how much depends on the circumstances and how long the delay lasts. Because the position varies from case to case, it is better to deal with the return as early as possible and to speak to HMRC or a professional if you think a filing is at risk of being missed, rather than leaving it unaddressed.
