CT600 Tax Return Filing in Holywell: Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

CT600 Tax Return Filing in Holywell gives your company a clear route from its accounting records to a Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC. A CT600 is the return used to report your company’s Corporation Tax position, and it is a separate filing obligation from the statutory accounts you send to Companies House, from a Confirmation Statement and from a VAT Return. Professional support helps you gather the figures, review the tax adjustments that may be needed to move from accounting profit to taxable profit, and submit an accurate return with confidence. Whether you are a director handling your first Corporation Tax Return or an established company looking to reduce the administrative burden, the process can be managed with clear communication, careful checking of the numbers and transparent, fixed-fee pricing.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Is a CT600? How Micro-Entity Companies Approach Company Tax Return Filing in Holywell

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. A CT600 is HMRC’s Company Tax Return, and it is used by companies to report their Corporation Tax position — including companies that qualify as micro-entities. Where a company is within the charge to Corporation Tax and HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return, a Company Tax Return will normally need to be completed and submitted. Micro-entity status is an accounting concept: it affects how statutory accounts are prepared and what is filed at Companies House, and it does not by itself determine whether Corporation Tax is payable or how much is due. Your accounting records and accounts provide the starting point for the Corporation Tax computation, but accounting profit is not automatically the same as taxable profit. Adjustments may be required — for example adding back expenditure that is not allowable for tax, removing depreciation and replacing it with an appropriate tax treatment, or reflecting available reliefs — before the taxable profit and any resulting Corporation Tax liability can be established. It is also important to keep two things distinct: filing the CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations, so submitting the return does not in itself settle the tax. Depending on the company’s circumstances and taxable position, no Corporation Tax may be payable at all.

A CT600 is the form HMRC uses for a Company Tax Return. It sets out a company's Corporation Tax position for an accounting period, including the figures from the Corporation Tax computation, the taxable profit and the amount of Corporation Tax due or repayable. It is submitted to HMRC, not to Companies House, and it exists only for companies rather than for sole traders or individuals.

Yes. Statutory accounts are prepared under an accounting framework such as FRS 105 or FRS 102 and are filed at Companies House, while a CT600 is filed with HMRC to report the company's Corporation Tax position. The two are linked because the accounts usually provide the starting point for the tax calculation, but they are separate documents, prepared for different audiences and submitted through different routes. Filing one does not automatically satisfy the other.

A company normally needs to file a Company Tax Return where it is within the charge to Corporation Tax and HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return. That can include trading companies, property and investment companies, and companies with no taxable profit for the period. Because the requirement depends on the company's own circumstances, it is worth checking your position rather than assuming that a quiet year removes the obligation. If a return is likely to be filed late, it is best to speak to HMRC or a professional as early as possible.

It may do, and micro-entity status alone does not settle the question. Micro-entity status relates to the accounting framework used to prepare statutory accounts; it does not replace the Corporation Tax rules or create a separate micro-entity version of the CT600. Whether a particular company must file a Company Tax Return depends on its circumstances, including whether HMRC has issued a notice to deliver one, and whether any Corporation Tax is payable depends on the taxable position for the period.

The Corporation Tax computation is the working document that starts with the accounting profit from the accounts and applies the necessary tax adjustments to arrive at the taxable profit and the Corporation Tax liability. The CT600 is the return that reports those results to HMRC, with the figures placed in the relevant boxes. In practice you need both: the computation supports the numbers that appear on the return.

Useful starting points include the statutory accounts or a trial balance for the accounting period, the accounting period start and end dates, details of income and expenditure, records of capital purchases and disposals, information on any reliefs or allowances being claimed, and any previous returns, computations or HMRC correspondence. Company and director details, along with the company's Unique Taxpayer Reference, are also required. Having these organised in advance makes the calculation and the filing much quicker to complete.

No. Filing the return and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations with their own timelines. Submitting a CT600 tells HMRC what the company's position is; it does not settle the liability. A company can also have a filing obligation for a period in which no Corporation Tax is payable, or receive a repayment where too much has been paid, so the return and the payment should be tracked independently.

Yes. A director or company officer can appoint an agent to prepare the computation and submit the Company Tax Return to HMRC, while the company remains responsible for the accuracy of what is filed and for paying any Corporation Tax due. Working with an agent is particularly helpful where there are tax adjustments to consider, unusual transactions during the year, or a wish to keep the paperwork and filing dates properly organised.
