CT600 Tax Return Filing in Great Yarmouth: Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

CT600 Tax Return Filing in Great Yarmouth gives your company a clear, organised route from your accounting records through to a Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC. The CT600 is the Corporation Tax Return that reports your company’s taxable profit and the Corporation Tax position for the period, and it is a separate filing from the statutory accounts you prepare for Companies House. Professional support helps you produce accurate figures, review the tax adjustments that move your accounting profit towards taxable profit, and keep the records behind the return properly organised. Whether you are a director filing for the first time or an established company with several periods behind you, having the return prepared and filed on your behalf reduces the administrative burden and lets you stay focused on running the business. We work with companies across Great Yarmouth and the surrounding area, offering clear, transparent pricing and fixed-fee options so you know where you stand before work begins.

I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

What Is a Micro-Entity CT600? How Small Companies Approach Corporation Tax Filing

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form — a micro-entity company that is within the charge to Corporation Tax uses the same Company Tax Return, the CT600, that any other company submits to HMRC. What differs is the surrounding picture: a company that qualifies as a micro-entity typically prepares its statutory accounts under a simplified framework, but the accounting framework used for the accounts does not by itself determine the Corporation Tax liability. Accounts preparation and Corporation Tax filing are related but separate processes. Your accounting records and the accounts themselves usually provide the starting point for the Corporation Tax computation, from which adjustments may be made — for example, for disallowable expenditure, capital allowances, or income and expenses treated differently for tax purposes. The result is the company’s taxable profit, which can differ from the accounting profit shown in the accounts. If taxable profit arises, Corporation Tax may be payable, but whether it is payable at all depends on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position. It is also worth remembering that filing the CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations with separate timescales, so meeting one does not automatically deal with the other. Where a company is not within the charge to Corporation Tax, or has no liability for the period, the filing position still depends on the company’s specific circumstances and should be checked rather than assumed.

Take the Pressure Out of Your CT600 Tax Return Filing

Preparing a Company Tax Return often means pulling together accounting records, working out the adjustments from accounting profit to taxable profit, and making sure every figure ties back to something defensible before the return goes to HMRC. It is the kind of work that sits at the back of the to-do list until the deadline starts to loom. Micro Entity Accounts can take that off your hands, from CT600 preparation and Corporation Tax computation through to a tax adjustment review and submission to HMRC. We keep the process straightforward, explain what is needed in plain English, and work with clear, transparent pricing and fixed-fee options. A CT600 is the form HMRC uses for a Company Tax Return. It reports the company's Corporation Tax position for an accounting period, including figures derived from the company's taxable profit, and is submitted to HMRC electronically. It is not the same document as your statutory accounts, even though the two are closely connected in practice: the accounts provide much of the raw information that feeds into the tax return, but each has its own purpose and its own submission route.

Company Tax Return is the general name for the return a company submits to HMRC for Corporation Tax purposes, and the CT600 is the form that return is made on. It sets out the accounting period covered, the company's taxable profit or loss position, and the resulting Corporation Tax calculation. Where a company has more complex affairs, additional supplementary pages may need to accompany the CT600 to give HMRC the full picture.

A company generally needs to file a Company Tax Return if HMRC has issued a notice to deliver one, or if the company has Corporation Tax obligations for the period, such as taxable profits or a chargeable gain. Some companies with no liability may still be required to file, particularly where HMRC has asked for a return. The position depends on the company's specific circumstances rather than on its size, so it is always worth confirming your filing obligation rather than assuming you are outside the requirement.

Yes, they are two separate filings with two different recipients. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company's members and filed with Companies House under the applicable accounting framework. The CT600 is submitted to HMRC to report the company's Corporation Tax position. The figures in the two documents often overlap, but they are not interchangeable, the tax figures may be adjusted from the accounting figures, and meeting your accounts deadline does not automatically deal with your Company Tax Return.

The Corporation Tax computation is the working that takes your accounting profit and turns it into taxable profit, adjusting for items treated differently for tax purposes, such as disallowable expenses, capital allowances, and other timing or permanent differences. The CT600 is the return that reports the outcome of that computation to HMRC. In practice they are prepared together, because the computation gives you the figures that populate the return, but they are distinct documents serving distinct purposes.

Possibly. Being a micro-entity affects how your statutory accounts are prepared, not whether you have a Corporation Tax filing obligation. If your company is within the charge to Corporation Tax for a period, or HMRC has issued a notice requiring a return, you will normally need to submit a CT600. Whether Corporation Tax is actually payable depends on your taxable profit and your company's circumstances, and remember that filing the return and paying any tax due are separate steps.

The two filings are separate obligations with separate deadlines and separate recipients, so one does not formally depend on the other. That said, the figures in the CT600 are usually built from the accounts, so in practice the accounts work normally comes first. If your accounts are not yet finalised, it is still sensible to plan both together so the figures stay consistent and the Corporation Tax computation reflects the final position.

Typically you will need the company's accounting records and finalised or near-final accounts for the period, details of income and expenditure, a breakdown of any items that may need tax adjustments, information on capital purchases that could attract capital allowances, and details of any prior-period losses or other brought-forward tax attributes. We also need the company's basic details and accounting period dates. If anything is missing, we will tell you what is required rather than leaving you to guess.

You start with the accounting profit shown in the company's accounts and then make the adjustments required by tax rules. Costs that are allowable for accounts but not deductible for tax purposes are added back, certain reliefs and capital allowances are deducted, and income or expenses recognised in a different period for tax purposes are adjusted accordingly. The result is the taxable profit, which can be higher or lower than the accounting profit. The precise adjustments depend on the company's activities and transactions.

No. Filing the CT600 tells HMRC what your Corporation Tax position is; paying Corporation Tax is a separate obligation with its own deadline, which may fall before or after the filing date depending on the company's circumstances. Submitting the return does not by itself settle any liability, and paying the tax does not remove the need to file. Keeping both in view avoids surprises on either front.

Yes. A director or other authorised person can appoint an agent to prepare the Corporation Tax computation and submit the Company Tax Return to HMRC on the company's behalf. The company remains responsible for the accuracy of what is filed and for paying any tax due, but the day-to-day work of pulling the figures together, reviewing the tax adjustments, and handling the submission can be delegated.

HMRC can charge penalties and interest where a Company Tax Return is filed late or where Corporation Tax is paid late, and the amount can vary according to how late the filing or payment is, how many periods are affected, and the company's circumstances. The best approach is to deal with a late or overdue return promptly rather than waiting, and to speak to HMRC or an adviser if you are unsure of your position. We can help you get back on track and prepare the outstanding return.
