CT600 Tax Return Filing in Charfield – Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

If your company is based in Charfield and needs to report its Corporation Tax position to HMRC, professional CT600 Tax Return Filing takes the pressure off. A CT600 is the Company Tax Return itself – the form through which a limited company reports its income, allowable deductions and the resulting Corporation Tax liability to HMRC. It is not the same as the statutory accounts you file with Companies House, even though both are built from the same underlying bookkeeping. Our approach is straightforward: we review your year-end figures, prepare or review the Corporation Tax computation, consider the tax adjustments needed to move from accounting profit to taxable profit, and submit the completed CT600 to HMRC. You get clear explanations of what has been included and why, a well-organised set of Corporation Tax records, and a filing process that fits around running your business. Whether you are filing for the first time, catching up on an outstanding return, or simply want a second pair of eyes on the numbers, CT600 Tax Return Filing support in Charfield keeps the process accurate, understandable and convenient.

I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

Is There a Separate Micro-Entity CT600? What Small Companies Need to Know

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. A CT600 is simply the Company Tax Return that HM Revenue & Customs requires from companies that need to file one, and the same form is used regardless of the company’s size. What changes for a micro-entity is the accounting side, not the tax return itself. Where a small or micro company prepares its statutory accounts under a simplified framework, those accounts may contain less detail than a larger company’s – but the company may still have a Corporation Tax obligation, and where HMRC requires a Company Tax Return, the CT600 must be completed and submitted. Importantly, the CT600 is a separate filing from the statutory accounts sent to Companies House. The accounts are prepared for the members and the public record; the CT600 reports the company’s Corporation Tax position to HMRC. The two are related because the accounting figures usually form the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, but they are not interchangeable documents and they go to different places. It is also worth remembering that taxable profit is not automatically the same as accounting profit. The Corporation Tax computation may adjust the accounts – for example by adding back disallowable expenditure or deducting capital allowances and other reliefs – before the taxable profit and any Corporation Tax liability are arrived at. A micro-entity will not necessarily owe Corporation Tax; whether any tax is payable depends entirely on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position. Equally, submitting the CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations with separate timelines, so filing the return does not in itself settle a tax bill. Understanding that distinction early helps you keep records tidy, plan cash flow sensibly, and avoid confusion between your accounts, your tax return and your tax payments.

A CT600 is the form used to submit a Company Tax Return to HM Revenue & Customs. It sets out the company's financial period, its turnover and other figures for the period, and the Corporation Tax that is due or repayable based on the tax computation prepared alongside it. The CT600 is filed electronically with HMRC; you do not send it to Companies House. Think of it as the tax version of your year-end reporting, aimed squarely at HMRC rather than at the public register.

A Company Tax Return is the collective term for the CT600 form plus the supporting information HMRC expects with it, such as the Corporation Tax computation and, in many cases, a copy of the statutory accounts and tax computations in iXBRL format. It reports the company's taxable profit and resulting Corporation Tax position for an accounting period. Filing the Company Tax Return tells HMRC what the company's position is; it does not by itself transfer any tax owed to HMRC.

Not every company files one every year – it depends on the company's circumstances and whether HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a Company Tax Return. A limited company that is within the charge to Corporation Tax will generally need to file a return for each accounting period, but there are situations where HMRC has confirmed no return is required, and situations where a return is required even though no tax is payable. Because the rules depend on your specific position, it is worth checking before assuming either way, and if in doubt, taking advice.

Yes – they are two separate documents serving two different audiences. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company's members and filed at Companies House, and must follow the applicable accounting framework. A CT600 is submitted to HMRC and reports the Corporation Tax position. The two share a starting point in your accounting records, but they are prepared to different rules and filed with different bodies on different timescales.

They are different, but they belong together. The Corporation Tax computation is the workings that start from the accounting profit shown in your accounts and adjust it to reach the taxable profit – adding back disallowable expenditure, deducting capital allowances and applying any other relevant reliefs. The CT600 is the return form on which those resulting figures are reported to HMRC. A CT600 without a proper computation is really just a set of numbers without a trail; the computation is what explains and supports them.

A micro-entity may well need to file a CT600 – the size of the company does not remove the Corporation Tax obligation. There is no separate micro-entity version of the form; small and micro companies simply have fewer accounting disclosures to prepare. Whether a CT600 must be filed for a particular period depends on the company's circumstances and whether HMRC has issued a notice to deliver. Equally, a micro-entity will not always owe Corporation Tax – that depends on the taxable profit and any reliefs or losses available.

In practice you need the year-end figures from your bookkeeping or accounts, the accounting period dates, details of income and allowable expenses, information on asset purchases and disposals for capital allowances, any losses brought forward or carried back, and details of any other reliefs or adjustments that apply. Prior-year computations, HMRC correspondence and records of any tax already paid are also useful. The better your records, the smoother the CT600 Tax Return Filing process and the easier it is to explain the figures reported.

No. Filing and payment are separate obligations. Submitting the CT600 tells HMRC what the company's Corporation Tax position is for the period; paying Corporation Tax is what settles the liability itself. The two can fall due at different times, and a company can be required to file a return even where no tax is due. Keeping the filing and the payment clearly separated in your own planning helps avoid the common mistake of assuming that once the return has gone in, everything has been dealt with.
