I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

FAQs: Corporation Tax Returns For Micro Companies

A Corporation Tax Return is the formal report a limited company provides to HMRC to set out its income, profits, gains, deductions and reliefs for an accounting period. It is HMRC's mechanism for assessing how much Corporation Tax, if any, is payable, and it is normally submitted online. The return is separate from any filing made at Companies House, and it is the company — not its accountant — that remains responsible for its accuracy and for submitting it on time.

The CT600 is the standard form used to submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC. It is accompanied by the company's accounts and computations in the format HMRC expects, which explain how accounting figures have been adjusted to arrive at the taxable profit or loss for the period. A CT600 is not a document filed with Companies House, and submitting it does not, on its own, satisfy any Companies House filing obligation.

No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600 and no distinct Corporation Tax regime for micro companies. Being a micro company is an accounting framework question that affects how statutory accounts may be prepared, not how Corporation Tax is reported. A company that qualifies for the micro-entity framework generally deals with Corporation Tax through the same Corporation Tax Return process as other companies, subject to its own circumstances, and it may still need to make tax adjustments when arriving at taxable profit.

Preparation usually begins with a review of the company's financial information for the accounting period, looking at the accounting profit or loss shown and the items behind it. From there, relevant tax adjustments may be identified — for example disallowable expenditure, capital allowances or timing differences — so that the taxable profit can be determined. The CT600 is then prepared, together with supporting computations where required, for submission to HMRC, and the position depends on the company's specific circumstances.

Statutory accounts are the financial statements a company delivers to Companies House where required, prepared under the applicable accounting framework. A Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, is a tax filing submitted to HMRC and is based on figures adjusted for tax purposes. The two serve different purposes and go to different recipients. Delivering accounts to Companies House is not the same as filing a CT600, and preparing or filing a CT600 does not in itself complete the company's accounts filing, confirmation statement or any other obligation.

Corporation Tax rules do not always follow the accounting treatment. Some expenses recognised in the accounts may be disallowed for tax, while reliefs such as capital allowances are available under tax rules rather than being reflected in accounting profit. Adjustments may also arise from timing differences or items treated differently for tax. This is why a computation is normally prepared alongside the return to reconcile accounting profit with taxable profit, and the adjustments required depend on the company's transactions.

Not necessarily. HMRC sets a deadline for submitting the Corporation Tax Return and a separate deadline for paying any Corporation Tax due, and these can fall on different dates. Both depend on the company's accounting period and its circumstances, so it is worth checking the specific dates that apply to your company on HMRC's guidance rather than assuming one date covers both. Missing a payment date can lead to interest or penalties even where the return itself was filed on time.

Dormant for Corporation Tax purposes and dormant for Companies House purposes are separate concepts, and a company can be one without being the other. A company that is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes may not need to submit a Corporation Tax Return for a period, and may be able to tell HMRC it is dormant instead, but it can still have Companies House filing obligations such as delivering accounts or a confirmation statement. Dormancy does not automatically remove those obligations, and whether a return is required depends on the company's circumstances and the period involved.
