I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

FAQs: Corporation Tax Returns For Micro Companies

Reach out to our UK team any time at info@microentityaccounts.co.uk — we are always happy to help.

A Corporation Tax Return is the way a limited company reports its taxable profit or loss to HMRC and calculates the Corporation Tax due for an accounting period. In practice, most companies do this by completing a CT600, subject to their circumstances. A micro company generally deals with Corporation Tax through the same Corporation Tax Return process rather than a separate micro-entity return.

A CT600 is the standard form used to submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC. It sets out the company's income, profits, allowable deductions and reliefs, and the resulting Corporation Tax calculation, depending on the company's circumstances. The CT600 is filed with HMRC, not with Companies House.

No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600. Micro-entity status relates to the accounting framework and the accounts a company may prepare and deliver to Companies House where eligible, not to a separate Corporation Tax Return. A micro company still deals with Corporation Tax through the applicable CT600 process, subject to its circumstances and the relevant rules.

CT600 preparation can involve reviewing the company's financial information, considering the accounting profit or loss, identifying relevant tax adjustments, determining taxable profit and preparing the Corporation Tax Return for submission to HMRC. The exact work depends on the company's circumstances, accounting period and the records available. We can assist with this process for eligible micro and small limited companies, including businesses in Warwick and the surrounding area.

Statutory accounts are prepared under company law and are delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return, usually a CT600, is submitted to HMRC. The two are related because the tax return often starts from the accounts, but they are not the same filing, and filing accounts with Companies House does not satisfy the CT600 requirement. Filing statutory accounts with Companies House is not the same as filing a CT600 with HMRC. HMRC does not approve statutory accounts, and Companies House does not provide professional or regulatory approval of accounts prepared by an accountant.

The profit shown in the statutory accounts is accounting profit. Corporation Tax rules can require adjustments, for example for disallowable expenses, capital allowances or other reliefs, so taxable profit may be different. The CT600 is based on the taxable profit figure after those adjustments, depending on the company's circumstances.

The deadline for submitting the Corporation Tax Return and the deadline for paying Corporation Tax are separate. They do not always fall on the same date, and the applicable dates depend on the company's accounting period and HMRC's requirements. It is important to track both dates so the return is filed and any tax due is paid in line with the relevant rules.

Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as being dormant for Companies House purposes. A company may have different filing obligations for each, and dormant status does not automatically remove all Companies House filing requirements. If a company has stopped trading or is dormant, it may need to tell HMRC and confirm its position, depending on the circumstances. Not every dormant company must continue submitting Corporation Tax Returns indefinitely.
