We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

A Corporation Tax Return is the return a limited company submits to HMRC to report its taxable profit or loss for an accounting period and to establish the Corporation Tax position for that period. It is a company filing rather than a personal one, so it is separate from any Self Assessment return a director may complete. The return goes to HMRC and not to Companies House, and it is built around the company's own figures and circumstances.
A CT600 is the form HMRC uses for submitting a Company Tax Return. It carries the figures for income, allowable deductions and taxable profit, and it may be accompanied by supplementary pages depending on what the company does and the transactions it has been involved in. When directors in Wallington talk about filing their Corporation Tax, they usually mean preparing the CT600 and the supporting information and sending it to HMRC.
No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600, and micro-entity status does not create a distinct Corporation Tax regime. The micro-entity accounting framework affects how statutory accounts are prepared and what they disclose, not which Corporation Tax Return HMRC requires. A micro company generally deals with Corporation Tax through the same CT600 process as any other limited company, subject to its own circumstances and the applicable requirements.
Preparation typically starts with a review of the company's financial information for the accounting period. From there, the accounting profit or loss is considered, relevant tax adjustments are identified, and taxable profit is determined before the return is completed and submitted to HMRC. The exact work depends on the company's circumstances — for example, whether there are fixed assets, director's loan movements, or income that is treated differently for tax purposes.
They are separate documents with different purposes and different recipients. Statutory accounts are prepared under the applicable accounting framework and delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return such as a CT600 is submitted to HMRC and deals with taxable profit and Corporation Tax. Preparing or filing one does not automatically complete the other, and filing accounts with Companies House is not the same thing as filing a CT600.
Corporation Tax rules do not always follow the figures shown in the statutory accounts. Certain expenses that are recognised for accounting purposes may be disallowed or restricted for tax, while deductions such as capital allowances can reduce taxable profit. Adjustments can also arise from non-trading income or from items treated differently under tax rules. That is why the profit in the accounts is not automatically the figure used to calculate Corporation Tax.
They are separate deadlines and they do not necessarily fall on the same date. For many companies the payment date arrives earlier than the date by which the return must be submitted, although the position depends on the company's circumstances. Both dates apply regardless of whether the accounts have been finalised, so it is worth tracking them separately rather than assuming one follows the other.
Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as being dormant for Companies House purposes. A company can still have Companies House filing obligations even where HMRC has been notified that it is dormant, so dormant status does not automatically remove every filing requirement. Whether a Corporation Tax Return needs to be submitted, and for how long, depends on the company's circumstances and HMRC's guidance, and directors may need to review the position with each accounting period.
