I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Who Needs Confirmation Statement Filing?

Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement, whether they are actively trading, dormant, or simply not trading at the moment. The confirmation statement exists to confirm that the information Companies House holds is accurate — it is not a financial filing, and it is completely separate from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.

  • Active trading companies that need to keep their Companies House record current
  • Dormant companies, which generally still need to file at least once every 12 months
  • Non-trading companies that have not yet started or have paused activity
  • Companies whose directors, shareholders or people with significant control have changed
  • Companies that have moved registered office or changed other registered details
  • Companies that want a second pair of eyes on their record before submitting
  • Newly incorporated companies approaching the end of their first review period
  • Business owners who would rather not deal with the CS01 filing themselves

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is also known as the CS01, and it is a completely separate filing from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return — those cover your financial position and your tax, while the confirmation statement is about your company's registered details.

  • Registered office address and the company's registered name and number
  • Directors, secretaries and any changes to who holds those roles
  • Shareholders, share capital and the details recorded for each shareholding
  • People with significant control (PSCs) and the nature of their control
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
  • The statement of lawful purpose and other confirmations required on the form
  • Confirmation that the details already on the register are correct — or notification of what has changed
  • Any changes that need reporting separately to Companies House rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It is commonly called the CS01. It is not a financial document — it does not report turnover, profit or tax — and it is a separate filing from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.

Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if they have had no activity. That 12-month window is known as the review period. A company can file more than one confirmation statement during a review period if its details change, and it is worth checking your own review period dates on your Companies House record so nothing is missed.

Before a confirmation statement goes in, it is sensible to check the registered office address, the directors and company secretary, the shareholders and share capital, the people with significant control, and the SIC codes describing the company's activities. You also confirm the statement of lawful purpose. If something is wrong or has changed, it usually needs to be reported to Companies House — often separately from the confirmation statement itself, depending on the type of change.

Generally, yes. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, because the filing is about confirming the company's registered details rather than reporting financial activity. A dormant company still exists on the register, so its information still needs to be kept accurate. If you are unsure how dormancy affects your own filing position, it is worth taking advice on your specific circumstances.

They are two separate filings with two separate purposes. Annual accounts report the company's financial position and performance for an accounting period and are filed with Companies House, with a copy also going to HMRC alongside the Corporation Tax Return. A confirmation statement does not contain figures — it simply confirms that the company information on the public register is correct. Filing one does not satisfy the deadline for the other, so both need to be tracked.

A Corporation Tax Return, often called the CT600, is a tax filing made to HMRC that reports the company's taxable profits and calculates the Corporation Tax due. A confirmation statement is a company information filing made to Companies House. They go to different organisations, cover different things, and have their own deadlines. Completing a Confirmation Statement Filing does not mean your Corporation Tax obligations are dealt with, and vice versa.

If a confirmation statement is not filed when it is due, Companies House can take action against the company, which may include starting the process to strike the company off the register and removing it from the public record. Failing to deliver a confirmation statement is also treated as an offence, and the company's record becomes increasingly out of date, which can cause problems with banks, customers and suppliers who check it. The simplest approach is to keep the filing on track rather than deal with the consequences later.

We start by reviewing the information Companies House currently holds about your company, then check it against what you tell us is correct — directors, shareholders, people with significant control, registered office and other registered details. Where something needs updating, we explain what has to be reported and when. We then prepare and submit the confirmation statement on your behalf and confirm once it has gone through. If you are based in Stoke Gabriel or anywhere else in the UK and would like your next filing handled for you, get in touch and we will take it from there.
