I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Confirmation Statement Requirements

Every UK limited company and LLP must confirm the information on the public register each year, even where nothing has changed and the company is not trading.

If your company pays even one director a salary, you must operate PAYE and file RTI submissions with HMRC.

Once any employee earns above the Lower Earnings Limit, RTI payroll filing becomes a legal obligation each pay period.

Who Needs Confirmation Statement Filing?

Most companies registered at Companies House need to keep their record current, and a confirmation statement is how you confirm that the details held about your company are correct. Being dormant, quiet or not currently trading does not normally remove that requirement, so directors in Shrewsbury should not assume the filing can be skipped.

  • Limited companies registered in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, including those based in Shrewsbury
  • Dormant companies — dormancy does not normally remove the requirement to file
  • Non-trading companies that remain on the Companies House register
  • Companies limited by guarantee and other company types with a review period
  • Directors and company secretaries responsible for keeping the register accurate
  • Businesses that want their CS01 filing checked and submitted on their behalf

What Is a Confirmation Statement?

A confirmation statement is a statutory filing to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is not a financial document — you are not reporting profit, turnover or tax — and it is a completely separate obligation from your statutory accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.

  • Registered office address and, where used, a single alternative inspection location
  • Company name and registered company number
  • Directors, company secretary and their details
  • Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
  • People with significant control (PSC) information
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes and the nature of the business
  • Confirmation of any other details Companies House holds that need checking or updating
  • Filing more than one confirmation statement in a review period is allowed where information changes

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a statutory filing made to Companies House. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company — such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders and people with significant control — is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. Confirmation Statement Filing is the process of checking that record and submitting the statement, normally as a CS01, within the company's review period. There is no financial reporting involved, but the filing matters because the public register is what lenders, suppliers, customers and others see when they look your company up.

If your company is registered at Companies House, it will usually need to file a confirmation statement, whether it is trading, dormant or simply not active at the moment. Responsibility for making sure it happens sits with the company's directors. In a small number of circumstances the requirement may not apply — for example where a company is in the process of being dissolved or has been struck off the register — so it is always worth checking your company's own position rather than assuming one way or the other.

In general, a UK company must file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. That 12-month window is known as the review period, and it normally runs from the date the company was incorporated or from the date of the last confirmation statement you filed. If your company information changes during that period, you can file an additional confirmation statement rather than waiting for the next review date — there is no limit on how many you can submit. Filing early simply starts a new review period from the new confirmation date.

Before filing, it is sensible to check the registered office address, the directors and company secretary, the shareholders and statement of capital, the people with significant control, and the SIC codes that describe what the company does. Some changes cannot be made through the confirmation statement itself and need to be reported separately using the correct form — a change of registered office, the appointment or resignation of a director, or an allotment of shares, for example. Sorting those updates first means the confirmation statement confirms a record that is already correct.

Yes, in most cases. Dormancy affects your accounts and your tax position, not your obligation to confirm the information on the Companies House register. A dormant or non-trading company still has a review period and still needs to confirm that the details held about it are accurate — even if nothing at all has changed since the last filing. Treating the confirmation statement as something that can be ignored because the company is quiet is a common and avoidable mistake.

No — they are two separate filings with different purposes. Annual accounts report your company's financial position and performance for an accounting period, while a confirmation statement confirms the company information held at Companies House. They have different filing dates, different formats and different content, and submitting one does not satisfy the requirement for the other. A confirmation statement should never be confused with an accounting period or an accounts deadline.

A Corporation Tax Return, usually filed as a CT600, goes to HMRC and reports the company's taxable profits and tax position. A confirmation statement goes to Companies House and contains no profit, tax or accounting figures at all. They are handled by different bodies, on different deadlines, and one has no effect on the other. Keeping the two clearly separate in your diary helps avoid missed filings in either direction.

Failing to deliver a confirmation statement is a failure to comply with the Companies Act, and it can amount to an offence. There is no automatic fixed late filing penalty of the kind that applies to overdue accounts, but ignoring the filing does not make it disappear — the company and its directors can face consequences, and in serious or repeated cases Companies House can take steps to strike the company off the register. Professional Confirmation Statement Filing means your record is checked for anything that looks out of date, your CS01 is prepared and submitted, and any separate updates to your company information are identified so they can be filed through the right route. To get started, simply share your company details and current position, and you will be told exactly what is due and what happens next.
