I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Confirmation Statement Requirements
Every UK limited company and LLP must confirm the information on the public register each year, even where nothing has changed and the company is not trading.

If your company pays even one director a salary, you must operate PAYE and file RTI submissions with HMRC.
Company Information
Once any employee earns above the Lower Earnings Limit, RTI payroll filing becomes a legal obligation each pay period.

Which Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
Most UK companies need Confirmation Statement Filing, including companies that are dormant or not currently trading. The confirmation statement is simply a check that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate — it is not a set of accounts and it is not a Corporation Tax Return. Being quiet, inactive or loss-making does not normally remove the requirement to file one.
- UK limited companies, whether they are actively trading or not
- Dormant companies, which generally still need to file at least once every 12 months
- Non-trading companies and companies with no income in the period
- Companies whose details have changed since the last statement, such as directors, shareholders or the registered office
- Newly incorporated companies, which have their own filing cycle running from the date of incorporation
- Companies with multiple shareholders, people with significant control or more complex share structures

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?
A confirmation statement is a short filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It is a snapshot check rather than a financial filing, and it is a separate requirement from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return. UK companies generally need to file at least once every 12 months, even if nothing has changed since the last one.
- Registered office address and company name
- Directors, company secretary and their details
- Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
- People with significant control (PSC) information
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
- Confirmation of the statement date and whether the company is trading or dormant
- Some changes, such as a director appointment or a change of registered office, usually need to be reported to Companies House separately as well rather than waiting for the confirmation statement
- Companies can file more than one confirmation statement during a review period when information changes, which can be useful after a share transfer or a change of directors

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It matters because Companies House relies on that information being correct — it is the public record of who runs the company, who owns it and where it is based. A confirmation statement is not a financial filing; it does not report profit, turnover or tax, and it is separate from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.
Most UK limited companies need to file a confirmation statement, regardless of where they are based, so companies in Melbourn Cambs and the surrounding Cambridgeshire area are no exception. The requirement normally applies whether the company is actively trading, dormant, or not trading at all. If you are unsure whether your company needs to file, or whether a particular circumstance changes things, we can talk it through with you before anything is submitted.
UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. That cycle runs from the company's confirmation statement date or, for a new company, from the date of incorporation. You can file more than one confirmation statement within the same review period if information changes and you want the public record updated sooner — for example after a share transfer or a change of directors. This 12-month cycle is not the same as your accounting period or your annual accounts deadline.
The confirmation statement confirms details such as the registered office address, directors and company secretary, shareholders and share capital, people with significant control, and the SIC codes describing the company's activities. It also confirms the statement date and whether the company is trading or dormant. If something has changed, it is worth checking whether that change also needs to be reported separately to Companies House, because some changes cannot simply be dealt with by filing the confirmation statement.
In most cases, yes. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, and many dormant companies still need to file at least once every 12 months. It is easy to assume that a quiet company has nothing to file, which is why dormant companies are often the ones that fall behind. We can confirm the position for your company and prepare the filing if it is needed.
No — these are three separate things. A confirmation statement confirms that companies House details are accurate. Annual accounts report the company's financial position and results to Companies House. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is submitted to HMRC and deals with corporation tax. Filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy your accounts or tax obligations, and filing accounts or a CT600 does not satisfy your confirmation statement requirement.
Companies House expects the confirmation statement to be filed on time, and failing to file is treated as a failure to comply with your filing obligations. In practice, that can lead to action being taken against the company, so it is best to treat the statement date as a firm commitment rather than an optional extra. If you have missed a filing date, it is worth getting in touch so the position can be reviewed and the filing brought up to date.
We start by reviewing the information currently held at Companies House against what you tell us, so any differences can be identified before submission. We then prepare the confirmation statement, highlight anything that needs to be reported separately, and handle the confirmation statement submission on your behalf. If your details have changed, we can help with Companies House information updates at the same time. To get started, simply share a few details about your company and we will take it from there.
