I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Which Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?

Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months — and that includes companies that are dormant or not trading. The confirmation statement exists to confirm that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date. It is not the same as annual accounts or a Corporation Tax Return, and filing it does not replace those obligations.

  • UK private limited companies, including active, dormant and non-trading companies
  • Companies limited by guarantee and other incorporated entities that must file a confirmation statement
  • Companies whose registered office, directors, shareholders or People with Significant Control details have changed
  • Companies with nothing to change, who still need to confirm their Companies House record is correct
  • Directors who want their CS01 filing checked and submitted accurately rather than left to chance
  • Businesses registered in or around Macclesfield that would rather not manage the filing themselves

What Is a Confirmation Statement?

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is often referred to as a CS01 or Companies House confirmation statement, and it is a completely separate filing from your statutory annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.

  • Registered office address and other basic company details held at Companies House
  • Directors, company secretary and any appointments or resignations during the period
  • Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
  • People with Significant Control (PSC) information
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing the company's activities
  • Confirmation that the company's intended future activities are lawful
  • Any changes must usually be reported separately using the relevant Companies House form, rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It is often called a CS01. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return — it simply confirms your company record. If something has changed, such as a director resigning or a new shareholder being added, that change is usually reported separately using the correct Companies House form, and the confirmation statement then confirms the updated position.

Most companies registered in the UK need to file a confirmation statement, including private limited companies, companies limited by guarantee, and other incorporated entities that file at Companies House. The requirement generally applies whether the company is actively trading, dormant or simply not trading at the moment. If you are unsure whether your particular company needs to file, it is worth checking your company's filing history and due dates at Companies House, or asking an accountant to confirm your position.

Companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, calculated from the date of the previous statement. That 12-month window is known as the review period, and the confirmation statement confirms the position as at the end of it. You can file more than once during a review period if your information changes and you want the public record updated sooner. It is important not to confuse this 12-month cycle with your accounting period or your annual accounts deadline — they run to different dates and are separate filings.

Before filing, it is worth reviewing the information Companies House already holds: your registered office address, directors and company secretary, shareholders and share capital, People with Significant Control, and your SIC codes. You confirm that these details are accurate, so anything that is out of date should be corrected. Changes such as appointments, resignations, address moves or share allotments usually need to be reported on separate Companies House forms, and the confirmation statement then confirms the corrected record.

In most cases, yes. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, because the statement is about the accuracy of your company record rather than about trading activity or profit. A dormant company will usually still have at least one director, a registered office address and shareholders, and those details still need confirming. Your precise obligations can depend on your circumstances, so it is sensible to check your company's own filing requirements rather than assuming dormancy means no filings at all.

No — they are three distinct filings. The confirmation statement confirms that your company information at Companies House is correct. Annual accounts report your company's financial position and performance for an accounting period, and a Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is submitted to HMRC to report taxable profits and calculate Corporation Tax. Filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy your accounts or tax obligations, and filing accounts or a tax return does not replace your confirmation statement. Each has its own deadline and its own purpose.

If a confirmation statement is not filed when it is due, Companies House may follow up with the company, and in serious or prolonged cases it can begin the process of striking the company off the register. Directors can also face consequences for repeated failure to file. The safest approach is to file as soon as you become aware a statement is overdue, and to bring any company information that has changed up to date at the same time.

We start by reviewing the information Companies House holds about your company and confirming what, if anything, has changed since your last statement. Where updates are needed, we can help you deal with the relevant Companies House information updates, then prepare and submit your confirmation statement accurately and on time. It suits directors who want the job handled properly without spending their own time on it. Simply get in touch with Micro Entity Accounts, tell us your company details and we will guide you through what is needed for your next filing.
