He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

What Is a Confirmation Statement?
A confirmation statement (often called the CS01) is the filing a company uses to confirm that the information Companies House holds about it is accurate and up to date. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return — it is a check that the public register reflects the current position of the company.
- Registered office address and single alternative inspection location details
- Company name, company number and business activity (SIC codes)
- Directors, secretaries and their registered particulars
- Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
- People with significant control (PSC) information
- Confirmation that the details are correct, plus any changes reported separately
- A separate filing from annual accounts, a Corporation Tax Return (CT600) or a VAT Return

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement — form CS01 — is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information on the public register about your company is accurate and up to date. It is a check of company details such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders, share capital, PSC information and business activity. It is not a financial filing: it does not contain turnover, profit figures or tax calculations, and it is not the same as annual accounts or a tax return.
If your company is registered at Companies House, it will generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if it has not traded and even if it is dormant. The requirement applies to companies in Lanark and elsewhere in the UK, regardless of size or income. There are some limited situations where Companies House may not require a repeat filing, so it is worth checking your company's own filing record and due dates rather than assuming.
UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, measured across a review period rather than the company's accounting period. If you want to, you can file more than one confirmation statement during a review period — for example when information has changed and you prefer to bring the register up to date. The confirmation statement deadline is separate from your annual accounts deadline, and it is separate from any tax payment dates.
The confirmation statement is used to check the details Companies House already holds. That includes the registered office address, the directors and secretary, the shareholders and statement of capital, people with significant control, the company's SIC codes, and other applicable company information. If something has changed, it is often necessary to report that change separately — for example a change of director or registered office — rather than waiting for the confirmation statement alone. Where a change has already been reported and processed, the confirmation statement is then simply a confirmation that the register is correct.
Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement. A dormant company still exists on the Companies House register, so its details still need to be confirmed at least once every 12 months. Many directors assume dormancy means no filings are needed at all, but the confirmation statement is a company register requirement rather than a tax filing. Dormant companies may still have other obligations, such as annual accounts or tax filings, depending on their circumstances.
No — they are two separate filings with different purposes. Annual accounts report the company's financial position and performance for an accounting period, and they are prepared to a set of accounting standards and filed under a different part of the Companies Act. A confirmation statement contains no financial figures at all; it simply confirms that Companies House has the right information about the company. Filing one does not satisfy the other, and the deadlines for each are calculated differently.
No. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is filed with HMRC to report the company's taxable profits and calculate Corporation Tax due, and it is normally filed alongside the statutory accounts. A confirmation statement goes to Companies House and deals only with company register information. A VAT Return is a third, separate filing for VAT-registered businesses. Filing a confirmation statement does not make a company compliant with its tax obligations, and it does not replace any of these returns.
If a confirmation statement is not filed, the company is in default on its register obligations. Companies House may take enforcement action, and continued failure can ultimately put the company at risk of being struck off the register. Directors should also be aware that keeping Companies House records accurate is part of their responsibilities. If you have missed a filing or are unsure of your position, it is best to act promptly — a professional Confirmation Statement Filing service can review your company record, prepare the submission and help you get back on track, and can assist with Companies House information updates as part of the process.
