I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Which Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?

Most UK companies registered at Companies House generally need to complete Confirmation Statement Filing at least once every 12 months — and that includes companies that are dormant or not currently trading. The confirmation statement exists purely to confirm that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date. It is not the same as annual accounts or a Corporation Tax Return, and filing one does not replace the other.

  • Private limited companies, including single-director and family-run businesses
  • Dormant companies that are not trading and have no significant accounting transactions
  • Non-trading companies that are between projects or being kept on the register
  • Companies limited by guarantee, such as clubs, associations and community organisations
  • Limited liability partnerships and other entities required to file at Companies House
  • Companies whose directors, shareholders or registered office details have recently changed

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Actually Confirm?

A confirmation statement — often called a CS01 — is the document a company uses to confirm that the information Companies House holds about it is accurate and up to date. It is a check on the register, not a financial filing, so it is a completely separate requirement from statutory annual accounts and a Corporation Tax Return. Think of it as a periodic refresh of your company's public record rather than a report on how the business is performing.

  • Registered office address and, where relevant, a single alternative inspection location (SAIL address)
  • The names and details of current and any resigned directors and the company secretary, if one is appointed
  • Shareholder or member information, including shareholdings and the rights attached to shares
  • People with significant control (PSC) details, including their nature of control over the company
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
  • Statement of capital, including share classes, the number of shares issued and their nominal value
  • Confirmation of whether the company is subject to any of the applicable statutory restrictions

Is Your Confirmation Statement Filing Due? Keep Your Companies House Details Right, Without the Guesswork

Keeping company records accurate and remembering when a confirmation statement is due is one of those jobs that is easy to put off until it becomes urgent — especially when details like directors, shareholders or a registered office have changed since last year. Micro Entity Accounts can take that off your plate, handling Confirmation Statement Filing alongside Companies House information updates so the register reflects what is actually happening in your business. You get a straightforward process, a proper check of what is on record, and a submission made on your behalf. When the details are correct and the filing is done, you can move on with confidence, knowing your company’s public record has been looked after properly.

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House under the Companies Act to confirm that the information held on the public register about a company is accurate and up to date. It is often referred to as a CS01, which is the form reference used for the submission. The confirmation statement is not a financial document and not a tax return — it simply confirms register details such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders, people with significant control, share capital and SIC codes. It is entirely separate from annual accounts and from a Corporation Tax Return.

Generally speaking, any company registered at Companies House needs to file a confirmation statement, and the same applies to many other entities on the register such as limited liability partnerships. Importantly, being dormant or not trading does not usually remove the requirement. A company is still on the register, so Companies House still needs confirmation that the information it holds is correct. There are limited exceptions, so if you are unsure whether your particular company or entity falls within the requirement, it is worth checking your company's circumstances or speaking to us before assuming no filing is needed.

A company generally needs to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. This period runs from the date of your last confirmation statement, or from incorporation if you have never filed one, and it is called a review period. Once a review period ends, you have a short window in which to file. If your company's information changes partway through a year, you are not restricted to one filing — you can submit additional confirmation statements during the same 12-month period, although these usually attract a separate filing fee. Companies House will normally send a reminder, but the responsibility for filing on time rests with the company.

Before filing, you should confirm that everything Companies House holds is still correct. That includes the registered office address, the directors and company secretary (if applicable), shareholder or member details and shareholdings, the statement of capital, people with significant control and their nature of control, and your SIC codes describing the company's activities. If anything has changed, the change usually needs to be reported to Companies House on the appropriate form rather than simply noted on the confirmation statement. We can help you identify what needs updating and handle the relevant Companies House information updates alongside your Confirmation Statement Filing.

Yes, in most cases they do. Dormancy affects your accounting and tax position — for example, whether you need to file full accounts or a Corporation Tax Return — but it does not take your company off the Companies House register. As long as the company remains registered, a confirmation statement is generally still required at least once every 12 months, even if the company has not traded and has no significant activity to report. Missing the filing because the company is quiet is a common and avoidable problem.

They are two separate filings with two different purposes. The confirmation statement confirms that the register information Companies House holds is accurate — addresses, officers, shareholders, PSCs and similar details. Annual accounts are the company's financial statements, prepared for the accounting period, showing the company's financial position and results, and they must meet the relevant legal and accounting requirements. Filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy your accounts obligations, and filing accounts does not satisfy your confirmation statement obligations. Most companies need to deal with both, and they often fall due at different times.

A Corporation Tax Return, commonly known as a CT600, is filed with HMRC — not Companies House — and reports the company's taxable profits and calculates the Corporation Tax due. The confirmation statement is filed with Companies House and contains no financial or tax information at all; it simply confirms register details. Because they go to different authorities and serve different purposes, a company can need both in the same year. Filing one has no effect on the other, and neither one makes a company compliant with all of its filing obligations.

If a confirmation statement is not filed, the company and its officers are exposed to enforcement action from Companies House. This can include financial penalties and, in serious or prolonged cases, steps to strike the company off the register, which would affect its legal existence and its assets. Late filing can also cause practical problems, such as delays when dealing with banks, lenders or others who check your public record. If you have missed a filing, it is best to deal with it promptly rather than waiting — we can review the position and get the submission made.

In practice, it is straightforward. We review the information currently held at Companies House for your company, confirm with you whether anything has changed, and prepare the confirmation statement on that basis. Where a change needs to be reported separately — for example a new director, a change of registered office or an update to shareholder information — we can help you handle that too, so the register is correct before the confirmation statement is submitted. We then make the submission to Companies House on your behalf and let you know it has been done, so you have a clear record of what was filed and when.

Get in touch with us and tell us your company name and, if you have it to hand, your company number. We will check your current Companies House record, confirm when your next confirmation statement is due, and explain what is needed from you — often nothing more than a quick confirmation that the details on file are still correct. From there, we prepare and submit the filing and keep you informed along the way. If you are unsure whether your information is up to date or whether a change needs reporting separately, that is exactly the sort of thing we can sort out for you as part of the process.
