We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Which Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to complete Confirmation Statement Filing on a regular basis, and that requirement normally applies whether the company is busy, quiet, dormant or simply not trading. A confirmation statement is not a tax return and it is not a set of accounts — it is a check that the information Companies House holds about your company is correct.
- Private limited companies, whether active, dormant or non-trading
- Companies limited by guarantee, including many sports clubs, associations and community groups
- Public limited companies and other incorporated bodies registered in the UK
- Limited liability partnerships, where a confirmation statement is due
- Companies whose directors, shareholders, registered office or people with significant control have changed
- Companies that have had no changes at all since the last statement — the confirmation is still required

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Confirm?
A confirmation statement is a statutory filing made at Companies House that confirms the information already held about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is often known as a CS01 filing, and it is a completely separate requirement from annual accounts and a Corporation Tax Return.
- The company's registered office address and registered email address
- Directors, secretaries and their details as recorded at Companies House
- Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital, where applicable
- People with significant control (PSCs) and the nature of their control
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
- Confirmation that the company information on the register is correct, or details of what has changed
- Changes that must be reported separately, such as a new director or registered office, rather than saved for the confirmation statement alone
- A distinction from statutory accounts, a CT600 Corporation Tax Return and VAT Returns, which are filed for different purposes

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made at Companies House that confirms the information on the public register about your company is accurate and up to date as at a set date. It is sometimes called a CS01, which is the form reference used for the filing. It is not a financial document: it does not report profit, turnover or tax, and it is not a substitute for annual accounts or a Corporation Tax Return. Its purpose is simply to confirm that the register reflects the reality of your company.
Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement, including private limited companies, companies limited by guarantee and, in many cases, limited liability partnerships. The requirement normally applies even if the company is dormant, has never traded or has had no changes since the last statement. If you are unsure whether your particular entity or structure is due to file, it is worth checking your position against what Companies House holds for your company.
As a general rule, a company needs to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, counted from the date of the previous statement or, for a new company, from incorporation. Companies House sets a review period, and the statement is due at the end of it. This is separate from your company's accounting period and from the deadline for filing annual accounts, so it is easy to muddle the two — treat the confirmation statement as its own recurring task with its own date.
Yes. A company can file more than one confirmation statement within the same review period, which is useful if information changes and you want the public register updated promptly. Even so, some changes — such as appointing or resigning a director, changing the registered office, or updating share capital — usually need to be reported to Companies House through a separate filing rather than being left to the confirmation statement. Filing the confirmation statement does not by itself report those changes.
Before completing Confirmation Statement Filing, it is worth reviewing the key details Companies House holds: the registered office and registered email address, the directors and company secretary, the shareholders and statement of capital, the people with significant control and the nature of their control, and the SIC codes describing your company's activities. If anything is out of date, the confirmation statement is your prompt to correct it — either through the statement itself or through the separate filing that the change requires.
In most cases, yes. A dormant company — one that is not trading and has no significant accounting transactions — is normally still expected to file a confirmation statement, even though its accounts position and tax position may be much simpler. Being dormant does not remove the company from the register, and the register still needs to be confirmed as accurate. Because dormancy can affect other filing obligations in different ways, it is worth confirming your specific circumstances before assuming nothing is due.
No, these are three separate things. The confirmation statement confirms that the information on the Companies House register is accurate; annual (statutory) accounts report the company's financial position and performance and are filed at Companies House and often HMRC; and a Corporation Tax Return, or CT600, is filed with HMRC to report taxable profits. VAT Returns are separate again. Deadlines and purposes differ, so filing one does not satisfy the others.
If a confirmation statement is not filed when it is due, the company is in default. Companies House can take action, and persistent failure to file can ultimately lead to the company being struck off the register, which is a serious outcome for directors and shareholders. A professional Confirmation Statement Filing service helps by keeping an eye on what is due, checking your details with you, preparing the statement and submitting it, so a straightforward administrative task does not become a problem. If you would like help getting started, the first step is simply to review the information Companies House currently holds about your company.
