I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Annual accounts, sometimes called statutory accounts, are the financial statements a company prepares for a specific accounting period. They provide information about the company's financial position and performance, such as its assets, liabilities and results, and are prepared in line with the accounting framework that applies to the company. Annual Accounts Filing refers specifically to submitting those accounts to Companies House where the company is required to do so.
UK limited companies generally have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, although what is prepared and filed depends on the company's size, accounting period, dormant status, applicable accounting framework and any available exemptions. Micro-entities, dormant companies, one-director companies and other eligible small limited companies can all fall within scope, but the requirements are not identical for every company. It is worth confirming your company's position before the deadline.
The deadline depends on the company's circumstances and accounting reference period, so there is no single date that applies to every company. Private companies generally have a Companies House filing deadline based on their accounting reference period, and the exact date should be checked for the individual company. Directors remain responsible for filing on time, even where an accountant or filing service prepares and submits the accounts.
Annual accounts are generally filed with Companies House, which is separate from HMRC. Filing annual accounts with Companies House does not itself constitute filing a Corporation Tax Return with HMRC, even though information from the accounts may be used when preparing the company's tax computation and CT600. Some companies also need to consider their HMRC obligations separately, and the two processes should not be treated as interchangeable.
Depending on the company's size and reporting requirements, annual accounts may include a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes to the accounts and other required statements or information. The level of disclosure can vary, and not every company files an identical set of accounts. The information that is included and made public depends on the company's size, the applicable accounting framework, any exemptions claimed and current Companies House requirements.
No. Annual accounts filed with Companies House are separate from a Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC, and a CT600 is the form used to file that Corporation Tax Return. Figures from the accounts may feed into the Corporation Tax computation and the CT600, but that does not mean the two filings are the same thing. Annual Accounts Filing is the Companies House process, while the Corporation Tax Return is handled with HMRC.
No, they are different filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company, such as its registered office, officers and share capital, is correct, and it is filed separately. Annual accounts are the financial statements for the accounting period and are filed as part of the company's Annual Accounts Filing responsibilities.
Dormant companies may still have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House. Being dormant for Corporation Tax does not automatically mean the company is exempt from filing annual accounts with Companies House, so directors should check what applies to their circumstances. Dormant accounts can often be simpler, but the filing itself and the deadline still need to be taken seriously.
A company may qualify for the micro-entities regime and could prepare accounts using FRS 105 where that regime applies and is chosen, which can involve a simpler format. Eligibility depends on meeting the relevant size conditions and considering the applicable rules and exclusions. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees. Meeting those figures does not automatically confirm eligibility, as other rules and exclusions may apply.
Yes, an accountant or filing service can prepare and submit the accounts on the company's behalf, which often makes the process smoother where records are complete and questions are answered promptly. The directors remain responsible for ensuring the accounts are properly prepared and filed on time, and for approving them. Support may include annual accounts preparation, accounts review, Companies House filing and help with deadlines, depending on what the company needs.
