I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

Fabulous team at ACCOTAX - very efficient and good response time . Honest and professional with their work. I would highly recommend them even if you’re a young start up - or a large business they have it covered .

Preparation, review and Companies House filing explained

Annual Accounts Filing usually begins with gathering your accounting records and preparing a balance sheet, profit and loss account and supporting notes where these are required. The figures are then reviewed with you, checked against the accounting framework that applies to your company, and submitted to Companies House for the relevant accounting period. Dormant companies and micro-entities may follow a shorter format, depending on their circumstances and the exemptions available to them.

Which companies need Annual Accounts Filing?

Annual Accounts Filing responsibilities generally apply to UK limited companies, but the format and content of the accounts depend on factors such as company size, accounting period, dormant status and any exemptions available. Micro-entities, dormant companies, one-director companies and other eligible small limited companies may each file a different set of accounts. For companies registered in Kings Newton and the surrounding area, the starting point is always your own company’s circumstances rather than a one-size-fits-all template.

Annual accounts are the financial statements a company prepares for a specific accounting period. They provide information about the company's financial position and performance, typically including a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes and any other statements or information required for a company of its size. They are prepared in line with the accounting framework that applies to the company and are generally filed with Companies House.

Annual Accounts Filing responsibilities generally apply to UK limited companies, subject to the company's circumstances and any exemptions that apply. Micro-entities, dormant companies, one-director companies and other eligible small limited companies may all have obligations, though the format and content of the accounts can vary. Directors remain responsible for making sure the accounts are properly prepared and filed on time, even when an accountant or filing service prepares and submits them on the company's behalf.

The deadline depends on your company's accounting reference period and its individual circumstances, so no single date applies to every company. Private companies generally have a Companies House filing deadline based on their accounting reference period, and the exact date should be confirmed for the individual company. Working on the accounts ahead of the deadline leaves more room to deal with any queries that arise.

Annual accounts for a UK limited company are generally filed with Companies House. This is separate from a Company Tax Return, which is submitted to HMRC. Information from the accounts may be used when preparing the company's Corporation Tax computation and CT600, but filing annual accounts with Companies House does not itself constitute filing a Corporation Tax Return with HMRC.

No. Annual accounts are the accounts filed with Companies House, while a CT600 is the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC for Corporation Tax purposes. They serve different purposes, follow different rules and have different deadlines. The two often draw on the same underlying figures, but filing one does not file the other.

No. A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing that confirms the company's registered details, such as its directors, registered office and shareholders, are correct. Annual accounts report the company's financial position and performance for the relevant accounting period. They are distinct obligations, and completing one does not satisfy the other.

Dormant companies can still have Annual Accounts Filing responsibilities with Companies House. Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes does not automatically mean the company is exempt from filing annual accounts, although a dormant company may be able to file simpler accounts depending on its circumstances and the exemptions available. It is worth confirming the position rather than assuming nothing needs to be filed.

Micro-entities may qualify for the micro-entities regime and may prepare accounts using FRS 105 where that regime is applicable and chosen. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average number of employees of no more than 10, subject to applicable rules and exclusions. Meeting those figures does not automatically confirm eligibility, so the rules should always be checked.
