I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

Annual accounts are the financial statements a company prepares for a specific accounting period, showing information about its financial position and performance. Depending on the company's size and the accounting framework that applies, they may include a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes and other required statements or information. They are prepared in line with the applicable accounting standards and Companies House requirements, and the exact content can differ from company to company.

UK limited companies generally have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, although the requirements depend on the company's circumstances and any applicable exemptions. Micro-entities, dormant companies, one-director companies and other eligible small limited companies may all have filing obligations, but the type and content of the accounts can vary. It is worth checking what applies to your company rather than assuming every company files the same set of accounts.

The deadline for Annual Accounts Filing depends on your company's accounting reference period and its individual circumstances, so there is no single date that applies to every company. Private companies generally have a Companies House filing deadline based on their accounting reference period, but the exact date should always be checked for your own company. Directors remain responsible for making sure the accounts are filed on time, even when an accountant or filing service prepares and submits them.

Annual accounts are filed with Companies House where a filing obligation applies to your company. They are separate from any Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC, and the information included in the public filing can depend on your company's size, applicable accounting framework, exemptions and current Companies House requirements. Many companies use an accountant or filing service to prepare the accounts and handle the Companies House accounts filing on their behalf.

No. Annual accounts filed with Companies House are separate from a Company Tax Return (CT600) submitted to HMRC, and filing accounts does not itself constitute filing a Corporation Tax Return. Information from the accounts may be used when preparing the company's Corporation Tax computation and CT600, but these are distinct obligations with their own requirements and deadlines. Our focus is on Annual Accounts Filing, not general tax advice or Corporation Tax Return preparation.

No, they are different filings. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is up to date, while annual accounts report on the company's financial position and performance for the accounting period. Both can be relevant to company compliance, but they are prepared for different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable. Our Annual Accounts Filing service covers accounts, not confirmation statement filing.

Dormant companies may still have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, so being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes does not automatically mean the company is exempt from filing accounts. The accounts a dormant company files can take a different form from those of a trading company, and the position depends on the company's specific circumstances and available exemptions. We can help with dormant accounts preparation and the related Companies House filing where required.

Yes. An accountant or filing service can prepare the accounts and submit them to Companies House on your behalf, which many directors find simpler than managing the process themselves. Even so, directors remain responsible for ensuring the accounts are properly prepared and filed on time. We support clients with annual accounts preparation, accounts review, filing deadline support, micro-entity accounts, FRS 105 accounts and related company compliance.

Micro-entities may qualify for the micro-entities regime and may prepare accounts using FRS 105 where the regime is applicable and chosen. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions to qualify as a micro-entity: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average of no more than 10 employees, subject to applicable rules and exclusions. Meeting these figures does not automatically mean a company qualifies, so eligibility should always be checked.

Companies House can impose late filing penalties when annual accounts are filed after the relevant deadline, and those penalties relate to the Companies House accounts filing rather than to HMRC Corporation Tax Returns. Penalties and deadlines depend on the company's circumstances and accounting period, so the exact position should be checked for the individual company. We can help you understand your filing date and keep the accounts process organised, but we cannot guarantee a particular filing outcome or that penalties will be avoided or removed.
