I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts prepared for a company that has been dormant for Companies House purposes during the accounting period, meaning it has had no significant accounting transactions. Because there is no trading activity to report, they are usually much shorter than accounts for an active company, but they still have to meet the format and disclosure requirements that apply to a dormant company and be filed with Companies House where required.
A company is generally treated as dormant for Companies House purposes when it has had no significant accounting transactions in the relevant accounting period. Some transactions are usually ignored when making that assessment, but whether a particular transaction counts depends on the applicable rules and the company's circumstances. It is worth confirming your position rather than assuming dormancy, because the answer affects what you need to prepare and file.
In most cases, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still has to prepare and file annual accounts for each relevant period, unless it has been formally dissolved or a specific rule applies to its situation. Remaining dormant does not switch off Companies House filing obligations, so accounts usually need to be filed even when there has been no trading activity at all.
Yes, in most cases. A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from your dormant company accounts, and it confirms that the information held on the register, such as directors, shareholders and registered office details, is correct. It normally has to be filed at least once every 12 months even if nothing has changed and even if the company has not traded during that period.
No, these are two separate concepts with different criteria. Companies House dormancy relates to having no significant accounting transactions, while dormancy for Corporation Tax purposes is a matter for HMRC and depends on its own conditions. A company may be dormant for one purpose but not automatically for the other, so filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not notify HMRC of dormancy or resolve your Corporation Tax position.
Not always, but it depends on your circumstances and on what HMRC has asked you to do. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is a separate HMRC obligation from your Companies House accounts, and you may still be required to file one, for example if HMRC has issued a notice to deliver a return or if the company has received income or incurred certain costs. Where the company's position is genuinely dormant for Corporation Tax purposes, HMRC should be informed separately rather than relying on your Companies House filing.
Yes, they are generally simpler than accounts for an actively trading company, because there is little or no trading activity to report and the disclosure requirements are usually lighter. They are not, however, a one-size-fits-all document. The accounts to prepare and the filing route available depend on the company's circumstances and the applicable Companies House rules, so not every dormant company will use the same form or method.
If annual accounts are filed after the deadline that applies to the company's accounting reference date, Companies House can treat the late filing as an offence and penalties may follow. Filing late does not make the requirement disappear, and the accounts still have to be submitted. If you are unsure about your deadline or your accounts are already overdue, it is best to get advice promptly so the position can be reviewed.
