I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts filed at Companies House by a company that qualifies as dormant for Companies House purposes — broadly, a company that has had no significant accounting transactions during the relevant financial period. They are a simplified style of accounts rather than a full set of trading accounts, and what they need to contain depends on the company's circumstances and the Companies House rules that apply for that period. Crucially, dormant company accounts are not a way of switching off your company's obligations. They satisfy the annual accounts requirement only, and they do not replace a confirmation statement or deal with any Corporation Tax position with HMRC.
For Companies House purposes, dormancy generally turns on whether the company has had any significant accounting transactions during the period covered by the accounts. A company with no such transactions may be able to file dormant accounts, although the exact position depends on the company's circumstances and the rules applicable to that period. There is no single test that fits every company, and a director cannot simply decide that a company is dormant and stop filing. If you are unsure whether your company meets the criteria, it is worth reviewing the activity in the period — including anything that has passed through the bank account — before preparing any accounts.
Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still has to file annual accounts for each financial period, and the fact that it has not traded does not remove that requirement. The only common exceptions are where the company has been formally dissolved or where another specific rule applies to it. What changes is the type of accounts prepared and filed, not whether a filing is due. Keeping on top of the annual accounts deadline is therefore just as important for a dormant company as it is for a trading one.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and a dormant company will usually still need to file one. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders and share structure — is correct as at the confirmation date. Filing dormant accounts does not satisfy the confirmation statement requirement, and filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy the annual accounts requirement. They are two distinct obligations that run alongside each other for as long as the company remains registered.
No, they are separate concepts with separate rules and separate authorities. A company can be dormant for Companies House purposes but not for HMRC, or the other way round. Being dormant at Companies House does not automatically make you dormant for Corporation Tax, and filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not notify HMRC of anything or change your Corporation Tax position. If you want to establish dormancy for Corporation Tax purposes, that is a question to take up with HMRC directly, and it is worth doing so rather than assuming the two positions match.
Not necessarily, but it depends on your company's circumstances and on HMRC's view of its position — this is not something that follows automatically from being dormant at Companies House. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is an HMRC obligation, entirely separate from your Companies House filings. Many companies that HMRC treats as dormant are not asked to file a return, but HMRC can issue a notice to file, and where that happens the obligation generally stands unless HMRC agrees otherwise. If you are unsure whether your company needs to file a CT600, it is worth checking your position with HMRC rather than relying on your Companies House dormancy alone.
In most cases we need your company name and registration number, the accounting period the accounts cover, details of the company's officers and registered office, and confirmation of the company's position during that period — particularly whether anything passed through the bank account or whether any other transactions took place. Share capital details and any changes to the company's structure can also be relevant. Because the requirements depend on the company's circumstances, we will tell you exactly what is needed once we understand your position. If you would prefer to hand the whole process over, we can also prepare and file the accounts on your behalf so you are not working through the detail yourself.
Late filing is not something to leave unresolved. Companies House operates its own late filing regime, and the consequences of filing after the deadline depend on the company's circumstances and the rules that apply at the time — so we would not want to describe a fixed outcome. The practical point is that a dormant company still has a deadline to meet, and letting accounts fall overdue can create avoidable administration for the director. If you think a filing may already be late, the sensible step is to get the accounts prepared and filed as soon as you can and to review the company's filing record.
