I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a company prepares and files with Companies House when it has been dormant for Companies House purposes during the accounting period. In broad terms, that means the company has had no significant accounting transactions in the period, subject to the applicable rules. Because there is little or no trading activity, the accounts tend to be shorter and simpler than those of a trading company, but they are still formal statutory accounts and still need to be prepared in line with the requirements that apply to your company.
For Companies House purposes, a company is generally treated as dormant when it has had no significant accounting transactions during the relevant accounting period. It is a specific test rather than a general description of an inactive business, and certain transactions may affect whether your company qualifies. A company can be sitting idle without necessarily meeting the dormancy test, and a company that meets the test still remains registered and still has annual filing obligations. If you are unsure how your own activity is treated, it is worth checking before you prepare the accounts.
Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes will generally still need to file annual accounts for each accounting period, unless it has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies to its circumstances. Being dormant does not remove the filing requirement. What changes is the type of accounts the company prepares and files, which should reflect its dormant position rather than the accounts of a trading business.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from the annual accounts, and a dormant company will generally still need to file one. The confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as its registered office, directors, shareholders and share capital — is correct as at the confirmation date. It is not the same document as your dormant company accounts, and it is not a Corporation Tax Return, so it is worth keeping the two obligations clearly separate in your annual filing calendar.
They can be considerably simpler, because a dormant company has little or no accounting activity to report. The accounts still need to be prepared correctly and filed on time, and the exact requirements depend on the company's circumstances and the Companies House rules that apply to it. Not every dormant company uses the same form or the same filing route, so it is a mistake to assume one standard approach fits every case. An accountant can confirm which route is appropriate for your company.
No. Companies House dormancy and HMRC Corporation Tax dormancy are separate concepts, assessed against different criteria. A company may be dormant for one purpose without automatically being dormant for the other, and vice versa. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not, in itself, notify HMRC that your company is dormant, and it does not automatically change your Corporation Tax position. If you want to understand your HMRC status, that needs to be considered separately from your Companies House filing.
A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) is an HMRC obligation and is separate from your Companies House accounts filing. Whether a return is required depends on your company's circumstances and on your position with HMRC, and it is possible to be dormant for Companies House purposes while still having Corporation Tax matters to address. Because the two regimes are distinct, it is worth checking your HMRC obligations directly rather than assuming that a dormant accounts filing covers everything.
Typically we need your company details, the accounting period in question, confirmation of the company's activity — or lack of it — during that period, and details of anything that might count as a transaction, such as bank interest, bank charges or other entries in the company's records. We also need to know your company's filing history with Companies House so the accounts are prepared consistently. The exact information required can vary depending on your company's circumstances, so the sooner you share what you have, the smoother the preparation tends to be.
