I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a company files with Companies House when it meets the dormant definition for Companies House purposes. In broad terms, this usually means the company has had no significant accounting transactions in the period covered by the accounts, so there is little or nothing to report in the way of income and expenditure. The accounts still have to be prepared and submitted in the correct form for your company's circumstances, and they are filed in addition to — not instead of — any other Companies House obligations that apply, such as the confirmation statement.
For Companies House purposes, a company is generally treated as dormant when it has had no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period. Small administrative entries do not automatically change that position, but anything that represents a real transaction may take the company outside the dormant definition. Because the test looks at what actually happened during the period rather than what the director intended, we review the company's activity before preparing accounts so the filing reflects the correct position.
Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes will normally still need to file annual accounts for each accounting period, along with a confirmation statement, unless it has been formally dissolved or another specific rule applies to it. Dormant status affects what those accounts contain, not whether a filing is due. If you are unsure whether a filing is outstanding, we can review your company's position and help bring the accounts up to date.
In most cases, yes. A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and it confirms that the information held about the company — directors, registered office, share capital and so on — is accurate as at the confirmation date. It is not an accounts filing, and filing dormant company accounts does not take its place. Many dormant company directors assume one filing covers both, so it is worth checking each obligation separately.
No — they are two separate concepts with different rules. Companies House dormancy relates to the company's accounting transactions for annual accounts purposes. Dormancy for Corporation Tax purposes is a matter for HMRC and depends on HMRC's own criteria. A company can be dormant for one purpose but not automatically for the other, and filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not notify HMRC of anything or remove any Corporation Tax obligation. If you are unsure of your position with HMRC, that should be considered separately.
Yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes typically has different accounting requirements from an actively trading company, because there is no trading activity to report in the usual way. That said, the exact content and format depend on the company's circumstances and the current Companies House rules, so not every dormant company is in the same position. It is also worth noting that filing routes vary — a single form is not automatically suitable for every dormant company, and we confirm the right approach for yours.
We normally need to confirm the company's accounting period, check that it genuinely qualifies as dormant for Companies House purposes, and review any transactions that have gone through the company during that period. We will also want to know whether the confirmation statement is up to date and whether the company's registered details are correct. The exact requirements can vary depending on the company's history and circumstances, so we will tell you clearly what is needed once we understand your position.
It depends on where the company is in the closure process. If a company has been formally dissolved, it no longer has ongoing Companies House filing obligations. However, a company that is simply inactive and awaiting closure, or that is partway through an application, may still need to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement while it remains registered. It is worth checking the position so nothing is missed in the meantime, and we can help you understand what is likely to apply.
