I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts filed with Companies House by a company that qualifies as dormant for Companies House purposes. In broad terms, that means the company had no significant accounting transactions in the accounting period, so the accounts are far simpler than those of a trading company. What can be included, and which form or filing route is appropriate, depends on your company's circumstances and the rules that apply to it at the time.
For Companies House purposes, dormancy generally centres on whether the company had any significant accounting transactions during the accounting period. Routine items that must be recorded for statutory reasons are treated differently from genuine trading or financial activity, so the detail matters. It is not enough simply to have stopped trading or to have had a quiet year — the test is about the transactions in the period, and directors should check their own position rather than assume they qualify.
In most cases, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes will normally still need to file annual accounts for each accounting period, unless it has been formally dissolved or a specific rule applies to it. Dormant status does not switch off the annual accounts requirement, and it does not remove the separate confirmation statement obligation either. Filing the correct dormant company accounts at the right time is how you keep the company's record in order.
A confirmation statement is a separate Companies House filing from dormant company accounts, and a dormant company will usually still need to file one. It confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company — such as its registered office, directors and shareholders — is correct as at the confirmation date, and it can be used to update anything that has changed. Filing dormant accounts does not cover this requirement, so the two filings need to be handled alongside each other.
Yes. Dormant company accounts are considerably shorter and contain far less detail than the statutory accounts of an actively trading company. A dormant company may have different accounting requirements from an active trading company, and the content of the accounts depends on the company's circumstances and current Companies House rules. It is also worth noting that dormant companies do not all follow one identical form or filing route, so the right approach should be confirmed for your company rather than assumed.
No — these are two separate concepts and are assessed by two different bodies. A company may be dormant for Companies House purposes and not dormant for Corporation Tax, or the other way around. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically tell HMRC that the company is dormant, and it does not by itself change the company's Corporation Tax position. If you want to establish dormancy with HMRC, or you are unsure where you stand, that needs to be dealt with separately.
That depends on the company's Corporation Tax position rather than on its Companies House dormancy. Corporation Tax Returns are a separate HMRC obligation from dormant company accounts, and whether one is required — or whether HMRC has confirmed the company does not need to file — depends on your circumstances. Because the two regimes are distinct, it is worth checking your Corporation Tax status directly with HMRC rather than relying on the fact that you have filed dormant accounts.
Usually you will need the company's basic details and filing information, the accounting period dates, confirmation that the company qualifies as dormant for Companies House purposes for that period, and details of any transactions that did occur so it can be confirmed whether they are significant. If anything unusual happened in the year — a change of name, a share issue, or an unexpected bank charge, for example — that should be raised, because it can affect whether dormant accounts are the right option and what the accounts need to show.
Late filing of annual accounts at Companies House can lead to consequences, and the position is governed by Companies House rules rather than by us. The practical point is that the filing deadline is fixed for your company and does not move because the company is dormant, so dormant company accounts filing should be diarised in the same way as for any other company. If you are already close to or past a deadline, it is best to raise it promptly so the position can be reviewed.
Yes. Accountants routinely prepare and file dormant company accounts, and can also support the separate confirmation statement filing. The benefit is having someone check whether the company genuinely qualifies for dormant treatment for that period, prepare the accounts in the appropriate format, and submit them to Companies House on the company's behalf. No firm can guarantee a particular Companies House outcome, but professional support reduces the risk of an avoidable error or omission.
It depends on where the company is in the closing process. Until a company is formally dissolved, its normal filing obligations generally continue, which can include annual accounts and a confirmation statement even if the company is dormant and the director intends to close it. The requirements can differ once an application to strike off has been made, so the position should be checked for your specific circumstances rather than assumed.
