CT600 Tax Return Filing in Hungerford – Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

If your company needs to report its Corporation Tax position to HMRC, professional CT600 Tax Return Filing in Hungerford takes the pressure off you and your team. The CT600 is the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC, and it is a separate obligation from the statutory accounts you file with Companies House, your Confirmation Statement, and any VAT Returns you submit. Working from your accounting records, the process involves preparing a Corporation Tax computation, reviewing the tax adjustments that may be needed to move from accounting profit to taxable profit, and then preparing and submitting the CT600 to HMRC on your company’s behalf. You get accurate, clearly explained filing, transparent pricing, and the convenience of dealing with people who understand both your books and your tax position — so you can get on with running the business.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Micro-Entities and the CT600: What the Company Tax Return Means for Smaller Companies

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. The CT600 is simply the Company Tax Return used to report a company’s Corporation Tax position to HMRC, and it applies to companies generally. What differs for a micro-entity is the accounting side: a company that qualifies as a micro-entity can prepare its statutory accounts under a simplified framework, which can make the accounts shorter and less detailed. That accounting framework does not replace the CT600, and it does not determine the company’s Corporation Tax liability by itself — accounts preparation and Corporation Tax filing are related but separate processes. A micro-entity company may still have Corporation Tax obligations, and where HMRC requires a Company Tax Return, the company needs to submit a CT600. Not every micro-entity will owe Corporation Tax; whether any tax is payable depends on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position. The figures in the accounts often form the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, but the taxable profit can differ from the accounting profit because adjustments may be required — for example, disallowable expenditure may need to be added back, and reliefs or allowances available to the company may need to be claimed. Finally, filing the CT600 and paying any Corporation Tax due are separate obligations: submitting the return does not, in itself, settle the tax that may be payable.

A CT600 is the Company Tax Return form used to report a company's Corporation Tax position to HMRC. It sets out the company's accounting period, its income and expenditure, the profit figures taken from its accounts, the tax adjustments applied, and the resulting Corporation Tax liability or repayment position for that period. It is submitted to HMRC, not to Companies House, and it is normally accompanied by a Corporation Tax computation and, in many cases, a copy of the statutory accounts.

No. Statutory accounts and the CT600 are two separate filings with two separate bodies. Statutory accounts are prepared under an accounting framework and filed with Companies House, while the CT600 is a tax return submitted to HMRC to report the company's Corporation Tax position. The two documents are connected because the accounts usually provide the starting figures for the Corporation Tax calculation, but the accounting profit shown in the accounts is not automatically the taxable profit, and the deadlines and filing routes are different.

It depends on the company's circumstances. Operating as a micro-entity affects how the statutory accounts are prepared, not whether Corporation Tax obligations exist. Many smaller companies are required by HMRC to submit a Company Tax Return each accounting period, while in some situations HMRC may not require one. The safest approach is to confirm the position for your own company rather than assume that micro-entity status removes the filing requirement, and to remember that even where a return is filed, it does not automatically follow that Corporation Tax is payable.

Taxable profit usually starts with the profit shown in the accounts and is then adjusted. Expenses that are not allowable for tax purposes may be added back, while reliefs and allowances the company is entitled to claim may be deducted. The result is the taxable profit used to work out the Corporation Tax position. Because these adjustments depend on the nature of the company's income and expenditure, the taxable profit can be higher or lower than the accounting profit, which is why a properly prepared Corporation Tax computation matters.

No — they are separate obligations. The CT600 reports the company's position to HMRC and includes the calculation of any Corporation Tax due, but submitting the return does not in itself settle the liability. Payment is made separately, and the amount payable and the date it falls due depend on the company's circumstances and the period covered by the return. Many companies find it helpful to plan for both the filing and the payment at the same time so that neither is overlooked.

Typically, we need the company's accounting records for the period, including income and expenditure, plus the statutory accounts or a trial balance, details of any fixed asset purchases or disposals, and information about items that may need tax adjustments. It also helps to have the company's UTR, its accounting period dates, and details of any previous losses or amounts carried forward. If anything is missing we will let you know, and the more complete the records, the smoother the preparation and filing process tends to be.

Yes. A company can authorise an agent to prepare and submit its Company Tax Return to HMRC, and this is a common arrangement, particularly where the company wants the accounts and the tax computation handled together. The company remains responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for any tax that is due, which is why a clear review process and good record-keeping are important. We can handle the computation, the CT600 preparation, and the HMRC submission, keeping you informed at each stage.

HMRC can apply penalties and charge interest where a Company Tax Return is filed late or where Corporation Tax is paid late, and the amount can depend on how late the filing or payment is and on the company's circumstances. Filing as early as the figures allow reduces the risk of a rushed submission and gives more time to deal with any queries. If you are concerned that a return may be overdue, it is best to address it promptly rather than wait, so that the position can be reviewed and the necessary steps taken.
