I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Which UK Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?

Most UK companies registered at Companies House need to complete Confirmation Statement Filing at least once every 12 months, whether they are busy trading, quiet, dormant or not trading at all. The confirmation statement confirms that the company information on the public register is accurate — it is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return.

  • Active companies that are trading as normal
  • Dormant companies with no significant accounting transactions
  • Non-trading companies that remain registered at Companies House
  • Companies whose directors, shareholders or registered office details have changed
  • Companies that have had no changes at all and simply need to confirm the existing record

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Confirm?

A confirmation statement — often referred to as the CS01 — is a statutory filing made at Companies House. Its purpose is simple: it confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is not a financial statement, and it is completely separate from annual accounts and a Corporation Tax Return.

  • The registered office address and, where applicable, any single alternative inspection location (SAIL address)
  • The company name, registered number and the type of company
  • Directors, company secretary (where one is appointed) and their details as held on the register
  • Shareholders, the statement of capital and share information
  • People with significant control (PSCs) and the details held on the PSC register
  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing the company's nature of business
  • A confirmation that nothing has changed, or the reporting of changes that need to be filed

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement, commonly known as the CS01, is a statutory filing made at Companies House. It is not a financial document and it does not report profit or tax. Instead, it confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. That includes details such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders, share capital and people with significant control. If everything is unchanged, you simply confirm the existing record. If something has changed, you either update it as part of the process or report the change on the relevant separate form.

In most cases, yes. A UK company is generally required to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if it is dormant, not trading or has had no activity during the period. Dormancy may affect your accounts and your Corporation Tax position, but it does not normally remove the confirmation statement requirement. Because the position can depend on your company's particular circumstances, it is worth checking with a professional if you are unsure whether your company is due to file.

UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, counted from the date of the previous statement. That 12-month window is often called the review period. You are not limited to one filing per period — if your company information changes, you can file a further confirmation statement to bring the register up to date sooner. The confirmation statement cycle is entirely separate from your accounting period and from your annual accounts deadline, so the dates will not necessarily line up.

It is worth reviewing the full public record rather than assuming it is correct. In practice that means the registered office address and any SAIL address, the company name and number, the directors and company secretary, the shareholders and statement of capital, the people with significant control (PSCs), and the SIC codes describing what the company does. If any of those details have changed, they may need to be reported to Companies House — sometimes on a separate form rather than through the confirmation statement itself.

They are three separate filings with different purposes. A confirmation statement confirms that the company information held by Companies House is accurate — it contains no figures about income, expenses or profit. Annual (statutory) accounts are the financial statements prepared for the company's accounting period and filed at Companies House. A Corporation Tax Return, usually the CT600, is submitted to HMRC to report the company's tax position. Filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy your accounts or tax obligations, and vice versa.

Failing to file a confirmation statement can lead to enforcement action by Companies House, and persistent non-filing may put the company at risk of being removed from the register. Directors also have legal responsibilities around delivering statutory documents on time. The exact consequences depend on the circumstances of the company and how long the filing has been outstanding, which is why it is far better to deal with an overdue statement promptly than to let it drift.

Sometimes, but not always. Certain updates — such as a change of registered office address, the appointment or resignation of a director, an allotment of shares or changes to people with significant control — are usually notified to Companies House using the relevant separate form, rather than waiting for the confirmation statement. Some information can be amended as part of the confirmation statement process. The practical point is that important changes should be reported when they happen, not saved up until the next annual filing.

The process is designed to be straightforward. You share your company details and let us know about anything that has changed since the last statement. We check that information against what Companies House currently holds, prepare the confirmation statement, submit it and confirm once it has been filed. Where your Companies House information needs updating, we can help with that side of things too, so the register reflects your company accurately. To get started, simply get in touch with your company name and number and we will explain what is needed next.
