I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?

A confirmation statement (often referred to as the CS01) is a filing that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date as at a specific date. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return — it is a check that the public register reflects the current position of your company.

  • Registered office address and company name details
  • The company's registered email address and other contact details where applicable
  • Directors and company secretary details, including appointments and resignations
  • Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital where relevant
  • People with significant control (PSC) information
  • Standard industrial classification (SIC) code and the nature of the company's business
  • Confirmation of the company's lawful purpose and intended future activities
  • It is a separate filing from annual accounts and from a Corporation Tax Return (CT600)

─── FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.

A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held on the public register about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is sometimes called a CS01. It is not a set of annual accounts and it is not a tax return — it simply checks that details such as your registered office, directors, shareholders and people with significant control are correct.

Most UK limited companies need to file a confirmation statement, including companies that are dormant, not currently trading, or simply not active. The requirement is generally linked to the company being registered at Companies House rather than to whether it has traded during the period. If you are unsure whether your company needs to file, it is worth checking your company's position before assuming you are exempt.

UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if nothing has changed and even if the company is dormant or not trading. This 12-month cycle is separate from your accounting period and separate from your annual accounts deadline, so the dates do not necessarily line up. Companies can also file more than one confirmation statement during a review period when information changes and they want the register updated sooner.

The confirmation statement confirms the information Companies House already holds, so it is worth reviewing your registered office address, directors and secretary details, shareholders and share capital, people with significant control, and your SIC code or nature of business. If something has changed, the change often needs to be reported to Companies House separately rather than simply being noted on the confirmation statement. Filing the confirmation statement itself does not automatically update those details for you.

Yes — a company being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement. Dormant companies still have a place on the public register, and Companies House still expects the information it holds to be confirmed periodically. Dormancy may affect other obligations, such as the accounts you file, but it does not usually remove the confirmation statement requirement.

They are two completely separate filings. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate — details such as directors, shareholders and registered office. Annual accounts report your company's financial position and performance for an accounting period. Filing one does not satisfy the requirement to file the other, and they normally have different deadlines.

A confirmation statement goes to Companies House and deals with company information on the public register. A Corporation Tax Return (CT600) goes to HMRC and deals with the company's taxable profits and tax position. They are filed with different bodies, cover different things, and are not interchangeable in any way. Filing a confirmation statement does not submit or replace a Corporation Tax Return.

If a confirmation statement is not filed, the company falls behind on its Companies House filing obligations and may face consequences, including the possibility of enforcement action and the company being struck off the register. It can also create problems later — for example when opening bank accounts, applying for finance or completing a sale. Because the exact outcome depends on the company's circumstances, it is best to bring the filing up to date as soon as you can.

With a professional service, you provide or confirm the details of your company, and the confirmation statement is prepared and submitted to Companies House on your behalf. Any changes to company information that need reporting separately can be identified at the same time, so nothing is missed. You receive confirmation once the filing has been made, so you have a clear record of what was submitted and when.

Getting started simply means telling us about your company — its name, company number, and the details you want confirmed. From there, the confirmation statement can be prepared and submitted, and any Companies House information updates can be reviewed alongside it. If you are not sure when your next confirmation statement is due, or whether your details are still correct, get in touch and we can help you work out the right next step.
