He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Which Companies in Grimsby Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
Most UK companies registered at Companies House need Confirmation Statement Filing, including companies based in Grimsby. The requirement applies whether the company is actively trading, sitting dormant, or simply not trading at the moment — dormancy does not normally remove the obligation to confirm that the register is correct. A confirmation statement is not the same as annual accounts or a Corporation Tax Return; it is a separate filing that simply confirms the information Companies House already holds.
- Active trading companies and limited companies of any size
- Dormant companies, even where no transactions have taken place
- Non-trading companies that have paused activity but remain on the register
- Companies limited by shares, and companies limited by guarantee where applicable
- Directors and company secretaries responsible for keeping the register up to date
- Companies whose details have changed during the year, such as directors or shareholders

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Actually Confirm?
A confirmation statement — often referred to as a CS01 filing — is a statutory filing made at Companies House that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is not a set of accounts, and it is not a tax return. It is a check on the company record itself, usually carried out at least once every 12 months.
- Registered office address and the company's registered name
- Directors, secretaries and their service addresses
- Shareholders, share capital and the details of shares held
- People with significant control (PSC) and the nature of their control
- Standard industrial classification (SIC) code and statement of lawful purpose
- Whether the company has traded, and details of any shares issued during the period
- Confirmation Statement Filing is separate from annual accounts and a Corporation Tax Return (CT600)
- Some changes, such as a change of registered office or the appointment or resignation of a director, may need to be reported separately rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made at Companies House that confirms the information held on the public register about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It covers items such as the registered office address, directors, shareholders, share capital and people with significant control. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax filing — it exists purely to keep the company record current.
In most cases, yes. A dormant or non-trading company is still a registered company, and the obligation to confirm that Companies House holds correct information generally continues. Filing a confirmation statement is a separate exercise from preparing dormant accounts or dealing with Corporation Tax, so it is worth checking each year rather than assuming the requirement has fallen away.
UK companies generally need to file at least once every 12 months, based on the review period that ends on the company's confirmation date. This is not the same as an accounting period or an annual accounts deadline, and it does not always line up neatly with your year end. Companies can also file more than one confirmation statement during a review period where information has changed and they want the register updated sooner.
The statement confirms the company name and registered office, the directors and secretary (where appointed), the shareholders and the shares held, the people with significant control and the nature of their control, the SIC code, and the statement of lawful purpose. If any of those details have changed, the confirmation statement alone may not be enough — certain changes must be reported to Companies House separately, and that is where professional support is genuinely useful.
No, and the three are often confused. A confirmation statement confirms details on the Companies House register. Annual (statutory) accounts report the company's financial position and performance, and are usually filed at Companies House as well. A Corporation Tax Return — the CT600 — is filed with HMRC to report taxable profits. They have different purposes, different deadlines and different submission routes, and filing a confirmation statement does not satisfy the others.
Failing to file when it is due puts the company in default with Companies House. Companies House can pursue the company and its directors, and prolonged failure to keep filings up to date can ultimately lead to action against the company, including the possibility of it being struck off the register. The practical impact is often felt sooner than that, though — a stale register can cause problems when opening bank accounts, applying for finance or completing due diligence on a sale.
We review the information currently held on the Companies House register, compare it with what you tell us about the company today, and identify anything that looks out of date or needs separate reporting. We then prepare and submit the confirmation statement on your behalf, keeping you informed at each stage. If a director, shareholder, registered office or PSC detail has changed, we can help with the Companies House information updates as well, so the record is corrected rather than simply confirmed.
Get in touch with the basic details of your company — its name, company number and confirmation date — and tell us about any changes since the last filing. We will confirm what needs to be done, explain our clear and transparent pricing, and take it from there. Whether you are a sole director running a small Grimsby limited company or part of a larger group, the process is designed to be quick, accurate and easy to fit around running your business.
